Are you sure skin is not 128x128 or 256x256?

Check "Maximal texture size". It can be set to 128/256/smth like that.

IIRC this only change the format into DDS.

If you've re-installed LFS, then it's probably a driver issue. Nvidia control panel has an option for texture sizes IIRC, if you have an Nvidia card it's worth a look through the settings I'm sure ATI have a similar setting, but I haven't had an ATI card in years

Also, it does happen on other skins, doesn't it?

That's an option in your card or your card itself, not a bug in lfs.
