The online racing simulator
Our very own "Nikimere" in Autosport
Quote from Autosport November 6th 2008, page 96 :Niki Meredith made history at Brands Hatch on Sunday when he became the first driver using a water-cooled engine to win a Legends race in the UK. The cars have traditionally used air-cooled Yamaha motorcycle engines, although regulations were opened up last year to include the water-cooled version.

Congratulations Niki on your history and your win!

Quote from Autosport, same issue, page 99 :Legends head to Ireland for '09. Legends are to break new ground by racing in Ireland in their own championship for the first time next year. The man behind the venture is Ed Meredith, the Irish agent for the cars, which are based on pre-war American models and are powered by 1200 or 1250cc Yamaha motorcycle engines. Races will be held at Mondello Park and Kirkistown, as well as Anglesey and Knockhill.
Meredith's son and Legends competitor Miki [sic] said "We expect to start with around 10 cars and grow from there."

Impressive, huh?!

Quote from Autosport, same issue, page 105 :...Earlier, Irishman Niki Meredith had taken his maiden win in heat one, although it couldn't have been closer, Meredith getting the verdict in a thrilling finish with Davey by one thousandth of a second

One thousandth!!
:static: And there was much rejoicing! :static:

:laola:

edit: That is quite a close call indeed. Grats!

Legends is already pretty massive in the UK, i saw them at Anglesey back in June and the fields were pretty big.

I have a mate of a mate who has a Yamaha 1400 bike, and when he parked it up in the paddock all the legends people kept eyeing it up, we were placing bets as to how long it would be till someone stole the engine.
whaha

the uk distributor did anounce he was relocating to anglesey circuit but i'm not sure if he actually did or not.

i'm ashamed to say that despite living only 10 miles away i havent been there since the new circuit opened though i'm blaming the fact i work on saturday and sunday nights so it has to be a real effort to get up on a sunday and this year every holiday has missed any race meetings there

Its an effort to get up there regardless, that place feels like it is 1000 miles from anywhere, you get to Chester and you think you haven't got far to go, but it seems to take hours hehe.

Perhaps Niki was racing then, the entire Lenister motor club was over there also getting very pissed in the circuit's bar.
