I couldn't find any where that answered my question so i'll put it up here.

I'm thinking of buying a license but I'm finding i like LFS s1 alot more fun than s2. Mainly because my friends are still playing on s1 so i was wondering since you can't buy s1 licenses any more if i bought an s2 license would it work on s1? Or can't i play s1 licensed at all?

Yes, you can also drive on S1 servers with a S2 licence. But no one ever drives there now.

the write up thing on the purchase page says this
2.1 Your payment will grant you the license to play the Live for Speed S1 or S2 release only, depending on the type of license purchased.

But i can play s1 with s2 license yeah? Even though it says that?

the s2 license contains the s1 content (therefore it's the double price)
therefore you can drive with your s2 license on s1 servers too (even on demo servers if you want)

Yes, you can switch between S1 and S2 anytime you want.

so how does going on an S1 server work when using S2? I'm to sleepy to try it out now.

Because S2 has damage content and diff car setup. Does the S2 version work out what needs to be disabled to run in an S1 server with other S1 players?

Look at the picture of Highsider. You just have to click on S1 there and you get the S1 server list. Then you can just join a server, you dont have to do anything more.

With an S2 license you can use all the cars/tracks/features/options in LFS. The difference between S1 and S2 is the cars and tracks. You can't go on an S1 server with S2 license selected or otherwise. Hope that clears it

AFAIK, the advent of S2 saw enhanced S1 content. That is to say that even though S1 was full, S2 brought enhancements and improvements to it. S1 should now also have a damage model, tire model and better physics as well.

If your buds who drive S1 licenses haven't upgraded to S2 versions of the software, they're actually missing out on some really good improvements to their own sim.

Now you're S2 licensed, when S3 comes out (and if you don't buy it), the likelihood is that you will still receive enhancements to the physics model, and other aspects that are enhanced when that arrives. You just won't have access to the S3 cars and tracks - just as it is with the relationship between S1 and S2
