GT1 class featuring modified versions of current GTR cars
The current GTR cars are more akin to FIA GT2 cars in performance. My suggestion is to use modified versions of the current GTR cars to create a new GT1 class. This is based on an idea on Wheel4Hummer's idea in the LFS Tweak thread.

Guideline specifications for all cars

Power : ~625 horsepower
Weight : Unsure, presumably about the same weight
Traction control : Possible on one or two cars.

FX1 : 3 litre I6 turbo.
XR1 : 3 litre V6 turbo
FZR : 3.2 litre boxer 6 turbo.

Future expansion room would be cars based on any supercars.
But this has been discussed so many times already.

Why traction control?

If anything I'd like to see the GT1 cars being truely GT1 cars and imho they need to be different looking than the GT2 cars. just another XRR for example wouldn't cut it.
nice idea with the GT1's, but I think there could be GT3's to make a TBOGTR class (FX0 GT3, XR GT3 and RB4 GT3). I just say this because I kinda feel uncomfortable about the most competitive group being composed by road cars (call it a paranoia or a stupid idea, whatever)
Good idea, but while we're at it, let's just make completely new cars. There's already enough 'multiple cars with the same design' in LFS. If we're to add a new class, let's just introduce some new car designs altogether.
GTRs in LFS are GT500 based (The Japanese Super Gt champ)
It's nearly the same engines...
They are good now
GT500 is alot batter than GT1 because you can have lamborginis against cars like Nissan 350Z!
You have more liberty of choice
And really... I don't think traction control would be a good thing
You have FXR if you want easy drive

Oh yeah!! NSX GTR class will rock everybody´s asses =)

NSX is very nice car also
An interesting idea. Though I don't know if you're allowed to turbocharge an engine as big as three litres in that class, and if you turbocharge the FZR a lot of people will be very unimpressed

I would say a definite no to traction control, though. It isn't even allowed in FIA GT1, is it?

Sam
I think it is but I'm not sure.
A little bit of research seems to throw up that the GT1 and 2 classes are about to undergo a bit of a rejig by the FIA, with 2009 as a transition year, and that the regulations will include a common ECU - which will not have a traction control system of any sort.

This implies that traction control is currently allowed, although I did always seem to have this idea that GT1 didn't allow it..

Also, as far as the turbocharging goes, I guess that isn't allowed either:
Quote from FIAGT.com :The GT1 category will be reserved for models with engines above 5.5L. The manufacturers or tuners will be able to choose between homologation at 650bhp/1300kg or 600bhp/1250kg.
The GT2 category will be reserved for cars with engines under 5.0L. The manufacturers or tuners will be able to choose between homologation at 500bhp/1250kg or 450bhp/1200kg.

Unless they plan for you to turbocharge a five-litre engine..

Well, it doesn't say it has to be a 5 litre engine... Just that the horsepower output and weight is fixed...
Yes, but what I meant was that turbocharging a five-litre engine would be exceedingly unfair - bear in mind that, even with the same power output, a turbocharged engine is going to be totally effortless, compared to a naturally aspirated engine trying to match the power without any extra capacity. That would mean that the turbocharged engine would be far, far more reliable than its naturally aspirated competitors, and so everyone would use turbos - and 5.5+ litres would therefore be much too much for a 625bhp output.

What I shoulda said was, "Unless they plan to let you turbocharge a five-litre engine"

I deduced that turbocharging isn't allowed because, almost invariably when turbocharging is allowed alongside naturally aspirated cars, you have a much lower capacity restriction for the turbos. As I recall, LMP2 was (dunno about now) up to 5.0 litres for naturally aspirated, but only up to 2.0 litres for turbocharged cars.

I say no to this is say we first get that Rb4 GTR
And after that some totaly new V8 and v6 GTR's but i have to agree that that FZR GT1 sounds bloody nice to become a car in lfs
Bro, I think thats a really cool idea, BRING ON DA GT1's, any car that handles nicely and has some nice BIG power, and if its turboed, SO MUCH THE BETTER
As a Honda fan I'd personally like to see more high power N/A machines instead of turbos. Yes turbo's can be fun and difficult to control but I hope there is the ability to add a vtec style system to the engine simulation. It would become fun to keep the car in the high power zone and make you try become a smoother racer and carry as much speed as possible without relying on big power to get you out of trouble.

Obviously the more cars the better (also a diesel would be fun).

If you go the I/V6 route, i'd say switch them around. The XR being an FR is far more suited to an I6 design than the FXR, which is AWD. THere the engine could be mounted transversly if it was a V6.
