I just thought I'd make a thread for all those converts who use Mozilla Firefox, to share any useful extensions/themes that you have been using.

I'll start with this. It's called Tab Mix Plus and it's basically a very useful tab organising tool. It allows you to lock and protect tabs (oh so useful) among other nice features.

Also, this. It's called Auto Shutdown, and does what it says on the tin. It automatically does whatever you want with your computer when all your FF downloads have completed. Very useful when you care about your electricity bill/the environment, and don't want your PC idling all night.

Any othe suggestions?

Not gonna download with just lists of apps - tell me what they do! I (we, collectively) don't have time to go through all of them.

Um... that's it really.
Adblock Plus : blocks adverts.
ChatZilla : IRC client.

Er, that's about it. Aside from the British English dictionary.
FireGestures - Adds mouse gestures, my single most important feature for any browser.
AdBlock Plus - Blocks advertisements.
FlashBlock - Prevents flash content from automatically loading.
FireFTP - An excellent and fast FTP program.
WebDeveloper - Stuff for web developers.
FireBug - Allows you to debug web sites.

I decided to try Mozilla a few weeks ago. First I had to download all the add-ons necessary to bring it up to the same functionality Opera has. That meant downloading the following:
  • All-in-one sidebar. Gives you a nice set of thumbnails in the left margin (bookmarks, downloads etc)
  • Mouse gestures redox. Adds mouse gestures for navigation. Irreplaceable once you get used to it!
  • Simple Mail. An e-mail client which can check all your e-mail adresses (POP and IMAP). Comes with a very nice e-mail editor too, and filters. Highly recommendable!
  • Fast dial. When you open a tab, your favourite webpages will be displayed as small images on your screen which you can click on. Basically it's just a really nifty, easy way of displaying bookmarks
Once that was done I also installed AdBlock plus, Imageshack toolbar and NoScript.

Only to find out that Mozilla is terribly sluggish compared to Opera. So I switched back.
Wow, so from this thread I've discovered mouse gestures. I can't believe I never heard about this stuff before! I think this will be very handy...

Chrome

Seriously - I used to have a lot, but it bloated out firefox...

Miss "Currency Conversion", though, as it made any $ price appear as £150 ($300) automagically for example, and updated all the time
Paste and Go - when you press e.g. Shift+CTRL+V it opens automatically a new tab in the background/foreground with the URL you had in your clipboard.

IE View Lite - adds "View this page in IE" to the right mouse click menu. Still surprisingly many websites that work only in IE. (actually I have found another use for it too: when posting images on forums, sometimes hotlinking is not working and opening the same page in IE is easy way to double-check that, since the image won't be loaded from browser cache )

FlashGot - absolutely vital for external download managers

Also i downloaded this addon right now and is very cool

The only 2 I have is AdBlock Plus and Opanda IExif for Firefox which displays Exif data for photography. Exif data is the camera settings and information. A plus for anyone interested in photography.

Safe mode.
Sorry to hijack your thread mike but does anyone else find that youtube can crash FF?

It's only started happening recently, usually when the vid is first loading or when I close a vid tab.
