4 gig of ram and it'll be fine.
Q6600 is only going to be better (maybe?) if you do alot of video editing work while listening to music while burning DVD's while watching TV while talking on MSN.
If you're using it for games, E8400 is the way to go.
Eitherway, get 4 gig of ram or the ram could possibly bottleneck. -

Also check out Nvidias GTX280, may be more expensive but I've heard it's better.
Or alternatively get a GTX260, which is 80% of the performance of the GTX280/4870 but for 50% of the price. Besides, any of them will run Farcry 2/Fallout 3, etc etc etc at high, if not max graphics on most screen res' up to around 24"inch or something monitor size with 4x AA smooth enough
(And no, I'm not an nVidia fanboy, I've never had one apart from the 6200 that came in a PC I bought a while back, I've had 3 ATi cards since then and they've all be great value, good performers, good for smallish overclocks (normally to the next model speed + 5% eg XT > XTX (+5%) speeds on standard fans with no problems), quiet and reliable. I've still got my old X1900XT in the drawer somewhere.
