I've only played 'virtual pool hall' so far, as it's one of the few serious billard simulations imho

I downloaded carom3d, got to play some 50-100 non-online practice games. I really liked it. So I trained more, so I wouldn't make a complete ass of myself when going online for the first time I thought... And then I went online... I clicked some random 'training' server, picked a game and then I had an opponent with a queue with a giant metal skull and 15 pounds of metall iron gadgets around the end of his queue!!!! - I mean, come on!!! I just didn't believe it... That is just silly!!

I am disappointed of carom3d...

since the physics are quite accurate and the gui is really intuitive... (from what you get in the non-online game experience)

I saw the Carom3d linked in 'NotAnIllusion's sig, haven't tried it yet though.

In another thread he linked to another very good billiards game, www.8ballclub.com

It's free, less than 20mb to download, and for it's size it has surprisingly good graphics and the game play is really good.

Carom3d is the best Billiard's game ever i played a lot of billiard games but Carom3d is the best !!!

Well technically this IS accurate because in carom you are hitting the ball exactly in the middle whereas in RL you are always slightly off, putting spin on the ball which deflects the ball in different directions.

It's not a failing of the physics, it's the accuracy of your hit.

I'd suggest anyone who finds Carom3D disappointing or too 'arcadey' tries the 8ball Club link posted. Sadly, it needs HW T&L so I can't play it myself

Thanks! Normally I don't like games that force you to register just to have a look at it. But ok, I registered, went online and had a go. It felt quite alright. I like that is has a snooker option. I'll probably give it another try.

...but again, that evening in carom was just so wrong! I watched that guy playing with his monster queue, my chin being nailed to the floor... I kept telling him in the chat how ridiculously silly his queue looked before I facepalmed myself and quit the game via taskmanager...

iSnooker was really good, when I played it. Haven't touched it since I got onto this new PC though, haha. There was a game called iPool as well iirc. :o

Tried Carom last night and I was actually really disappointed with it. Really wasn't expecting little anime cartoon style stuff. Pot a ball and they dance about, miss and they facepalm. The aim seemed a bit weird too, like it only moved in steps and not 'mm by mm' if that makes sense. Maybe I was doing something wrong but I couldn't figure it out.

I'll be sticking with 8ballclub. Seems much more realistic to me. If anyone wants a game, shout at me via PM and tell me a time you want to play.

Hold shift to fine-tune aim. You can get rid of the annoying sounds & music by turning them off from the ESC menu (I think it was from there anyway), changing to the old graphics engine will get rid of the anime chicks too.

Try Miniclip pool, 9ball, 8ball, snooker and it's really good

Must of recently closed down, all the other Gametrust sites which run the game are down, unless you can try 'trugamer' it should have it all there.
