The online racing simulator
If only it was an option - Ie. Always change tires/manually change tires. But nooo..

Currently I can't see much of a sence in doing it this way.

I changed some tires and it only changed in the right side - maybe just an graphical glitch, but wasn't visual feedback supposed to be a big thing in this game? :|

I think the cars and cocpits looks awesome. Other than that I like LFS gfx better. I also like the FFB though but everything else is rubbish.

I'm utterly dissapointed with this game :|
Quote from ajp71 :Did you ever have vibrationless FF?

in nk ? no (except when im understeering)
in any other game ... yes

just checked if it was a ne preoblem with my dfp or something ... started up lfs and oh my effing god the ffb feels so much better

just tried locking up ... and its a different sort of vibration ... i have little vibrations that feel like the whole car is jumping ans skipping across the track
Quote from Shotglass :the game is seriously lacking an easier way to change the setup instead of tediously clicking +/- buttons

And the minimum and maximum values too, there's little point changing something without a reference value
Quote from NotAnIllusion :And the minimum and maximum values too, there's little point changing something without a reference value

and units ... eg spring front .. 29 what ?
I never had a FF problem with my DFP felt great straight away none of the weirdness that LFS sometimes gives just feels more solid to me when your actually in the car and moving it feels great and is at least as good as LFS IMO the 3 hours it took to get to that point were pissing annoying though
Quote from Shotglass :and units ... eg spring front .. 29 what ?

I think if you use the front end rather than in sim setup screen it tells you at least it did in namie. I hope someone makes an alternate front end for this pronto.
Theres a manual now, and check this thread and links in it: http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=250155

I'm pretty disappointed too... it just feels unbelievably unfinished and buggy game. I don't like the interface at all and user friendliness (Kunos ever head of that?!) isn't very high in this game in general.

FF was very clunky/jerky feeling (had a feeling that FF motor could break at any minute), anyone have an idea what Profiler settings should be used? And the bug that FF settings was always 100%.

I tested MP very briefly, pings were 400-22 000 (wtf?!) and it was VERY laggy and low fps in MP. Trackday mode was very smooth. I've read other had probs with this too and the whole lobby server program.

I'm not completely lost hope on this but it's not looking very good at this point.
I gave it a quick go. Wasn't impressed, overall it seemed unfinished. Sound was horrible. LFS's sound isn't mind blowing, but atleast it has a real good excuse. Graphics, were nice I guess, but there isn't really anything to look at. And how the hell do you wipe the dirt off your visor?

Maybe the physics are better than LFS, I don't know. But I do know LFS is a hell of alot more fun.

You have to make a profile for /nkp/nks.exe, i used like 30% overall force and nothing else turned on.
I used 10% and still was too much.
Spent another couple of hours with the demo, tweaking for performance and putting in laps and started to enjoy myself enough to buy a full license. Despite my initial disappointment, it does grow on you. Activation went without a hitch and I spent an hour trying out the various cars and tracks in the full version before going online to see how it fares in multiplayer. Gad! The server list took over a minute to refresh and when it finally came up, 11 of the 12 servers listed had pings of over 5000, with fully half of them in the 15000 range. Only one was under 1000, at 500 odd. Tried to connect to that server and was rewarded with the text "Server is not responding" emblazoned across the screen in bright red letters several inches high. Alrighty then!

I hope these are just teething problems.

I already found out that nks.exe thing but I meant should the damper and spring force be turned off. I used overall force 60% and felt definately too strong, probably because the FF settings in the game doesnt work. illepall
Blimey, I REALLY coulda done without getting to bed at gone 1:00am zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Anyway, pretty much agree with all here, quite dissapointed, but really need to put in a bit more track time (did toy with the idea of chucking a sickie today, alas I better not LOL).

Can anyone tell me if there is any reason my laps are not being "timed", nothing is being saved or shown post race.

Dan,

I haven't yet managed to get past the 'Server is not responding' message, and I tried practically all the listed servers several times.

I'm hoping it's a port issue, but I've never had an issue with any other online game (when I'm not hosting), especially once I'd allowed Windows firewall to let things through.

I have Windows XP x64 and so have .NET 2.0 (x64). Hope it's not an issue with that??

Are the pings really as high as reported in the server list or are the units not the standard ms? More than a little worrying if they are, and could be the cause of the unresponsive servers.

Offline I've been having some fun with the F1600 and F1800. Although I have gear shift issues with these two (i.e. sometimes it takes multiple paddle clicks to shift up), they are harder (and more rewarding) than the F2000 and Ftarget. Seem to flat spot the tyres very easily though.

NKP seems to have promise, but it's making every version of LFS ever released look like the most polished product ever. Not sure the curret version of NKP deserves even alpha status let alone v1.0.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but can someone help me with the controller config screen? I can assign a function to a wheel button but I can't seem to get it to unassign! So now whenever I up/downshift I also change my brake balance. Never before have I had a problem with assigning key bindings in a game, this is ridiculous.

EDIT: Finally got it to unassign a function from a key by reassigning it to a different key.
I'm unaware of any simple way of clearing binds in-game, and ppl over at RSC are having the same problem. Have a look in the ini file or assign a button you don't need meanwhile
Yeah brandon, you have to assign something to another key/button, you cannot unassign something. Really frustrating, I know.

I just checked and pings were 4000-8000... I wonder why would those be in any other unit?

And before I got joined to a server and it was laggy as hell and I had major FPS drop. Server had only 5 other players, I hope it was because of the lag... I don't think the amount of players would make it that much heavier as Trackday was very smooth. Otherwise Kunos has talked about real bullshit about the system requirementes.

Quote :Not sure the curret version of NKP deserves even alpha status let alone v1.0.

Definately do not deserve. S2 0.5 Alpha is a "bit" unrated compared to that.

And that "Just drive" must be a sarcastic joke. The controllers options in LFS aren't as simple as they could be but this controls config in nK must be the most retarted config screen ever.
I could get the display in the car working in the demo by using this trick: I downloaded biggie's replay, and while watching it pressed R button. If you were in outside veiw you will also have to press F2, and you will find yourself in the car. Now start the engine and have fun with working display Biggie's replay can be found in an earlier post in this thread.
I managed to connect to a server but there was no one else online. Started in the pits, exited pitlane keeping below the speed limit and was told that I had made a false start. Uh, what? Still, ran the complete race length for practice, no one else joined the server and when the race was over and I exited the session, none of my online stats had been updated with the race/laps I had just run. Hmm.
Is anyone getting there laptimes "saved"?, mine arent showing after a session for some reason.

Dan,
the net part of netkar is kinda broken atm.
The multiplayer side is really starting to be... not PRO but POO.

This is just so unbelievable how unfinished everything in this seems and feels to be. Until the release I thought this will have a very "professional touch" in it but now I'm starting to feel like Kunos is completely from different planet in coding-wise (than Scawen ).
HOW TO MAKE LCD WORK IN THE DEMO:

1. Go for a run.
2. exit then save the replay
3. in replay mode, press R once, and F3 twice.
4. exit now.

You got it!
So how in the hjell should I get moving from the pits, I can fire the engine up but cant shift up, these controll options are so weird. Im happy that I didnt preorder this...
