Maybe its to do with gravatational pull, seems to be dividing between left and right depending on where in the world you are, just like which way the toilet flushes

Often when I hug someone I fall victim to "the shopping cart syndrome". If I go left, they go right and we crash. But that doesn't have to be too bad, depending on who I'm hugging.
