I am playing on a HPzd8000 laptop with a pci-e ati x600 256mb video card, I have a dual monitor setup with a Nec FE950+ crt (this is the monitor i play LFS on). I have the most recent video drivers and i've even tried rolling them back, but i get REALLY BAD screen flicker(only in game). I have my refresh rate up at 85hz and have tried messin with AA and AF but there is nothin i can do to get rid of it.

Try fiddling with the VSync, and make sure that the refresh rate is the same in both LFS and the windows control panel.

All my refresh rates are set the same and i tried every v-sync combo. the only setting that seems to get rid of it is the Minimum Sleep - if i turn it up to 10ms it seems to go away but my frame rate goes from 85 down to 40

You could additionally check on the OSD of your monitor the refresh rate when playing LFS. If it's stuck at 60 Hertz (or less...) launch dxdiag and substitute the frequency (last tab) with the one specified for the Windows desktop.
