When will this old problem be solved?

I play LFS in full screen mode with Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 and a Logitech Momo Racing wheel. I don't use a screensaver, but I want my monitor to switch off after 5 minutes of no activity. Unfortunately Vista sees playing LFS as no activity...

I found another solution:

I disabled AA and AF in LFS (graphics options), but changed the settings of the nvidia driver in such way that it forces 4x AA and 16x AF. That makes framerate in LFS normal again.

Just discovered something with driver version 178.24. If I start LFS then framerate is very low. If I go to the LFS graphics options, switch from 4x antialiasing to no antialiasing and then back to 4x antialiasing, then framerate is normal again. Unfortunately I have to repeat this sequence everytime I start LFS.
Anyone problem with nvidia 17x.xx graphics driver?

LFS framerate becomes very low (<20) if I install any nvidia 17x.xx graphics driver. With nvidia 16x.xx drivers LFS framerate is normal (>60). Other games/benchmarks don't have this problem. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? How to solve it?

My system: Asus P4P800-SE, Pentium-M 1.8 GHz, GeForce 7600GT, Vista32 SP1.

Same problem here, but only if I use a very high port number like 63392. My problem disappeared when I switched to a much lower port number. Seems to me that Vista doesn't allow these high port numbers, even with the firewall disabled. Does anybody know the reason for this?

Maybe it's because I have the sound level quite low (because I don't want to disturb other people), but so far I haven't heard the sound difference....

I suppose there are different levels of engine damage, just like there are different levels of suspension damage. What kind of hearing skills are needed to find out that you lost 10, 20, 30, ... % of the engine power? Therefore I prefer a visual indication.

I understand that the true racing purists don't want such indicator in LFS. Nevertheless LFS has indicators that show suspension damage. Those are not realistic either, but they are there, and I find them useful. Mainly because I drive hotlaps instead of races. As soons as I notice that I damaged the car, I will quit the lap and restart.

Unfortunately there is no engine damage indicator. Wouldn't it be a good idea to add such indicator to the other damage indicators?

Incompatibility might be 'as designed', but for users it's as annoying as a bug. This incompatibility makes many of the hotlaps available at lfsworld.net useless for download. That's a pity.

What do you mean with reset within a hotlap? Do you mean the restart feature (shift+R)?
Many WR hotlaps cause Replay OOS error [not a bug according to...]

For example dime_miki_AS2_XFR_104840.spr

The error doens't appear at the start of the replay, but after some time.

Is this a known problem?

I use LFS 0.5X10.
