While I agree with what you are saying, the object is to keep all four wheels on the road. This is not an issue when you are not driving like a banana. (I have not watched your replays.)
Also, I am failing to see the significance of a user name change? Your racer name shows up above your car on the server, so we only see the undesired username when you log on or post something silly on the forum...
I don't understand the pressing desire you all have!
(P.S. Stefani24 is an exception to the rule. Poor bloke.)
Just as a side note.. I have been running LFS on Windows 7 since the first beta and subsequent updates since, using a 9800gtx, and have had no such issues. This is all whilst testing the various Z-based patches.
LFS has too much grip when the tyres are cold and not enough when they're hot. In the middle range it's not too bad. I'm looking forward to seeing this fixed soon enough.
I figure the Devs should see this negativity and learn from it. It is a fair indication of the viewpoint of many LFS users, and even then, only the portion who can be arsed to post on the forum about it.
People are pissed off with lack of updates, both of content and information regarding progress, YET they are still hanging around the forums, waiting and waiting to play they game they clearly love, but in some form on new light.
Devs, release new content but CHARGE for it! People will be overjoyed, and happy to pay, and perhaps the potential cash injection will re-ignite the passion to create.
Or is Eric really dead? *runs*
I think the idea is that with the ignition off, the cars no longer have their 'physics' computed by the server and therefore save on server load and lag for users?
@Kaynd: I wouldn't worry too much mate. I don't think what we are discussing here actually will come into effect, but it has made for some interesting reading/viewpoints.
I have not read the thread but thought I would just chip in my 2c as I was quite vocal in another 'whinging' thread.
I would just like to thank Scawen for..
A) Letting us know the progress of the Scirocco.
B) Taking the time to _really_ polish the new VW as it shows how much you really do care about LFS and us, the users.
C) Some of the other updates in this patch series, loving it.
So people would be keen on a server based setup 'locking' similar to the single player option where the AI uses your set?
This would be able to be turned on/off at the server side so as we could have 'open' and 'locked' setup servers.
I agree with Rusty though that the quick (himself included) would remain quick, but the mid pack would benefit greatly. Limited setups and the new ABS would make for some much tighter packs, whether or not that is a good thing....
