S2 is not expensive.. its CHEAP considering what you get in terms of quality and upgrades/patches.

Other games cost as much and more, especially those dumbass PSX games and such.

LFS is very affordable. If YOU cant afford it, it doesnt mean its expensive. Oh yeah, save up!! Its worth it!

Quote from XCNuse :You can use your old setups, just move them from the "settings" folder, to the "setup" folder

Also, no longer can you look back using left and right (i don't think?) using both will only let you see 90 degrees, using one will let you look either direction 45 degrees now.

Figured out the setup renaming trick. Although with the new physics.. who knows!

But the look function has been totally buggered up!! Was better before! :banghead:
Patch Y help

So after installing the last patch 2 things have changed which are confugsing me.

1. I cant use old setups.
is that normal? are new setups required??

2. I used to use the 2 'paddle' buttons on my DFP for left/right viewing, while pressing both worked for looking back. That combo doesnt work anymore.
Any idea on that??

Thanx in advance!

All in all, i dont forsee a real solution to the problem, and having one that doesnt work properly will have side effects in the game that we cant even think of at this moment... maybe after alot of contemplation... nah, id rather go sleep

Quote from CSU1 :Of course they know about the rules they just know they will get away with it!

I know what you mean about it might be a bit hard to get LFS to determine the difference and not make a bad call.

I wonder if it would be possible to let it only warn when one car touches another with great force, 'damage inflicting force'???

Hmm.. wouldnt do it, not for me anyways.. actually not for anybody.
Think about it, youre going through a turn and the ass behind you taps you just enough to send you spinning.. he should have backed off just a bit so as not to touch you at all.. but anyways, off he goes with no penalty beacuse he didnt hit you with "damage inflicting force", and youre ripping up your tires tryin to swing about and get back into the race.

Quote from geeman1 :According to HPs site 8760C has a PIII 733MHz, 128MB of RAM and a Integrated GPU and the Presario 2100 has a P4M 2.4GHz, 512MB of RAM (GPU takes a part of this) and the Mobility Radeon. According to those specs the Presario has a faster CPU (a lot faster), more RAM and a better GPU too. Also the Presario seems to be a '03 model and the HP is a '01 model. If those specs are right you should get better performance with the laptop.

Looking at those specs for the laptop.. LFS should be more than just barely playable. Have someone who 'gets' computer software check out the system.. could be you have some software conflicting with LFS.

Hah! i was just online at STCC2 and witnessed (as usual) no holds barred as far as contact rules are concerned. Even guys honking there way through turn 1 and pushing othes off the track!!
There's just too much racing on STCC for this type of thing to be controlled, so nobody follows these very important rules. Maybe they dont even know about them

Its quite annoying i agree. Unfortunately i dont think its possible to incorporate this type of penalty system into the game. Contact rules might just be too dynamic to properly translate into code.. correct me if im wrong programmers and techies!! (there are just situations where the software could make a bad call, due to close calls in turns and such.. nudging etc.)

But look at it this way for the STCC, its just racing to collect points, to get to the REAL race, where the racing IS clean. But you have to get there first, which involves alot of really great driving and point collecting, which is time consuming regardless of a few wrecked races due to contact norules.

Well,, actually i dont need any help.. ivr figured it out.
I also have a joystick connected to my comp which i calibrated as the clutch but i havent gotten around to making a pedal for it so it hasnt been in use.. although it has been connected.
It seems that when i recalibrated the axis because of my pedal problem i forget to recalibrate the joystick which is sitting under the table, hence the strange clutch problem.
But it still seems strange that it would cause a problem given that i am currently using 'autoclutch'.

Anyways.. thats it!
Strange clutch problem

So, i was just racin about when the clutch just disengaged itself and wont go back. I am using autoclutch and sequential shifter, which has worked properly up until now. I recalibrated the axes because the gas peddle was a little off, went back to the race and the clutch just deactivated and stayed that way.. i could change gears, give gas, but of course no forward movement!!

I exited LFS, tried again, drove a bit and voila.. again!! And i tried the same a few more times.

Anyone have any ideas?!?

Quote from JamesK :ok, without emptying the bank account to get a G25, whats the best of the rest?

I've got a Saitek XBox wheel thats good, but a native PC one would be better (especially with pedals!).

Get DFP no questions asked!! and make sure its rev B!!

In 2 years, when they refine the g25 and it becomes cheaper.. upgrade

Quote from KSheppard :Dad just had a momo problem, these are the files you gotta lose, anything that looks like this:

C:\Program Files\Logitech\WingMan Software\LWPGames.dat

1. BACK 'EM UP FIRST!!
2. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR BUTTON PROGRAMMING...make a note of 'em.
3. LWP=LogitechWingmanProfile

Yep.. that did it. Thanks!
First i exported the profiles (i have 3 for LFS, 270,540,720 degrees settings).. deleted the dat file.. and then i imported the profiles again, without remapping and it works fine!

Damn windows based software.. always have strange problems, like small children design the software, or maybe its just programmers on a caffeine-high who cant see straight

Quote from sgt.flippy :You can delete the profiles through the profiler itself too...
Don't know what it's called in English, but the second pull down thingy on top, nexto "file..", there it says "delete".

I tried that but didnt work,, ill try the first suggestion.. makes sense that a more 'hardcore' delete would do it.

Ill follow up...........
DFP button mapping

So ive come across a problem which i did not have before. Normally i have the F9-F12 keys mapped to the buttons on my DFP, and it has worked normally. Now it doesnt works anymore, and im not sure if its because of the new patch v or logitech profiler??
I tried remapping the keys in profiler a few different ways with no effect.. and the buttons on the DFP ARE in operation.

Any ideas?

Quote from EeekiE :
Using throttle blip on downshift means you'll never lock the rear wheels up for a fraction of a second while downshifting into a corner which can happen with full manual setup if you have a lapse in concentration, or you're under alot of pressure from someone behind.

Just somethin interesting.. i use a DFP and of course the sequential shifter for shifting, but i have no clutch. So to make it a little bit more difficult for myself i 'used to' turn off using throttle blips.. so when i changed gears i didnt just click, i actually click and hold the shifter in place which actually put the tranny in neutral and then i had to adjust the throttle before releasing the shifter and engaging gear. Not a real clutch, and obviously i dont have the slow grabbing of the clutch effect, but i have to adjust throttle in between gears which is also interesting.

Unfortunately i can no longer do this in patch V.. because that 'glitch' has been eliminated. Kind of a shame really, great glitch. I hope the devs put it back!!

Is it just me or does it seem like people are taking for granted that LFS is already at a higher level then other 'games'. It seems nothing is ever good enough.
Anyways, it will never be real enough.. because its not real.

But if some people want special options in their races, why not.. there's more than enough servers to play on.. and more will come.
Have fun, and play fair!

So, after 2 months of screwing around on a 'registered warez' version i got off the net.. i finally have purchased S2!!!!!

I just couldnt live with myself anymore! The devs deserve every penny they can get to improve this already kick ass game. Great job guys

Also purchased a DFP, 76euro and well worth it. Get 'em while theyre still about!! G25 is just too much $$$.. if you want the MOST realistic experience, get in your car and drive to the local track!
