The accuracy and realism of LFS can be enhanced, but as a developer, it’s crucial to avoid overcomplicating the engine to the point where additional complexity yields diminishing returns in performance. Achieving this balance is incredibly challenging; even Formula 1 teams, with their extensive resources, occasionally find that their simulator data does not always align with real-world track experiences, despite all their efforts.

Just to add realism? Did I Say That?

Quote from w126 :You may use XInputPlus software to get separate throttle and brake. It also has FF emulation, but it's probably just FF force translated into vibration intensity, so it will be different from vibration effects created by some other driving games (on gear changes, wheel slip etc.). Another useful feature is that it allows to set a deadzone for a stick used for steering.

Thanks, I have heard about XInputPlus before, I may check it.

Quote from Gutholz :I do not know about Xbox gamepad but with every wheel or gamepad I have ever used, it worked in LFS like this:
Options -> Controlls
select "wheel / joystick" at top.
Then change throttle/brake axis from "combined" to "seperate"

Thanks. Is there any advantage on going form "combined" to "separate"?
Couple of questions about XBOX wireless controller in LFS

Why there is no in-game vibration effects with the XBOX wireless controller and what would be the benefits if the controller would report throttle and break in separated axis? Currently both are reported in the z-axis.

Note: I have noticed the above with other games too.

Quote from NumberTwo :I definitely agree that this game needs more Jessica Alba

Not sure what do you mean by that, but Constance Nunes is good with petrol engines.

I hope the developers keep the keepers and add some of the improvement suggestions.
What are your keepers, improvement suggestions and wishlist for next version

Racers, what do you think must be kept, should be improved and would be great if it is added to the next main version of the game.

Here are my thoughts:

Keepers
- Game identity: Game icon, logo, UI colors, UI design (#option, screens, UI element positions, etc)
- All current functionalities (UI and on-race)
- Input device latency, mechanics, usability etc
- Physics, tire model etc
- Car Sounds
- Load times, screen transition times etc
- On-game FPS
- AI skill levels & aggressiveness

Improvement suggestions
- UI resolution
- # of polygons in some cars (i.e splash guards in UF 1000)
- Car's cockpit and interior images resolution
- # of polygons in driver helmet & body
- Driver helmet, suit resolution
- Reply rewind / forward speed

Wish list
- Indicators (not sure if currently available)
- Driver's change gear effect in all views and if possible in replays
- Better damage model (i.e. windscreen/shield, side mirrors breaks)
- Better AI defending position abilities, and overall realism (i.e. mistakes under pressure)
- Track Marshals weaving flags
- One key instant reply (not sure if currently available)
- A track with elevations like Mt Panorama
- RB4 GTR, a sedan, a wagon a SUV and a electric car
- Weather and wipers
- Music streaming service integration for on-car audio
- On-game skin creation and screen shot modules like GT Sport (just for fun).

What makes a game physics better or worst in comparison to others? I think different people prefer different things. To me, if the game is consistent and predictable, lap after lap, I can get into a zone where I play to the limit almost by instinct, like disconnected from any rational decisions. It is a really nice sensation. LFS is the only game that takes me to that nirvana state Smile

Apart of that, I love how quickly I am racing after starting the game from the desktop. It is so lightweight and easy to use compared to the complex ui's in current games.

-- EDIT: wow, I can't believe that was my first post because I feel I've been here forever Big grin
