I posted something similar to this in the Unofficial Addons section as I think it's the only thing about LFS which is a bit on the lame side. Would be great if they could nail the collision sounds

I must have to clean my ears out then because to me they sound like a toddler smashing some fisher price cars together...

Apologies if there has already been a thread on this topic but I'm pretty sure that unless my eyesight is failing me looking through all 11 pages of this section of the forum came up with nothing suiting what i have to ask...

... which is LFS is great but its let down by some C64 type audio whenever cars collide - has anyone ever done an alternative more realistic sound for the collisions and if so could they kindly point me in the direction of it?

Though there aren't any Holden cars in the games, if you go to the skins sections, some very talented people there have re-created some of the liveries from the V8 series for car models which resemble the V8s.

Thanks Becky and Bean0 for the tips. Is there a reason why when i use the BB code i get 'League Spectator' bar instead of 'Copper License Holder'? No big deal, but having a bar which says i'm a league spectator, in my book, is a little less impressive than being a copper license holder

I've only just started playing sim racing games on the PC so when i got bored of GT4 and my Playstation 2 i thought i may as well get the cash for it whilst i could. £90 is a lot for a dust collector

Hockquan - the situation you describe is a very tricky sitaution, certainly when you are playing a computer game - however if you were to apply it to the real world of racing they would say that the car behind you has every right to fight you for position whilst you are trying to get past the backmarker.

Of course the backmarker can help the sitaution by trying to get out of the way as sufficiently as possible but then that's why in racing the commentators always make mention of the havok the backmakers can make for two cars/bikes approaching who are fighting for track position.

Any spillage that would occur from the situation unless someone was blatantly in the wrong would likely be put down to being a racing incident.

So that probably clears up nohing as far as you are concerned with the LFS servers

The xbox 360 controller works well with LFS in terms of joypads, especially if you update the M$ drivers with the XBCD drivers (google it).

However i would imagine for imersion there's nothing quite like a wheel and the DFP is a very good wheel for its price. Shame i sold mine when i stopped playing GT4

Hi I'm a noob so forgive me if this is a very noobish question.

I noticed that there are STCC servers where you can progress through various stages - i like the idea of this but how do i know if i am attaining driving points? Do i need to register with them or can i simply keep playing on their servers and place well to up my skill and unlock better cars?

Plus how do i get one of those bars which displays what (crappy) level i am at?

Hi how are you all doing? Just recently got a new computer capable of running LFS and the like (had a very old laptop beforehand).

Coming from a console background, i've finally become bored of the limited offerings they have. The likes of Forza and GT4 are good games but are too limited as sims/level of customisation. The ever increasing list of things Forza 2 is having stripped from it finally convinced me to take the plunge into the world of PC gaming.

LFS looks like it offers a lot and I'm certainly enjoying it so far.

I understand that to get the most out of it i ideally need to join a league and probably invest in a steering wheel (though i don't find this game too difficult to cope with using a 360 pad)

Hope to race with some of you soon online
