Did you resolve this Dave?

I'm back to LFS after a long absence and am struggling with the exact same problem. I'm experiencing a brief pause every few seconds and my network debug looks the same as yours although I've not tried changing the view to see if the interval goes positive.

I too have a dual boot Win 7/XP. Hardware is P6T Deluxe MB/i7 920.

I tried to update the ACPI device but as you found, the driver in use is the latest and there doesn't seem to be an update for this on the ASUS site.

When I first tried yesterday, I thought I'd start by killing a few processes. I killed two and tried LFS again and found the problem had gone. Tried killing the same two today and the problem has returned.

All other multiplayer games seem fine.

There is a thread discussing F1 on the forums at Digital Spy in which quite a few of the people behind the scenes take part - i.e. people who do work or have worked in the past for FOM. From reading that thread, it is clear that the RPM display is provided by analysis of the sound produced by the engine. At the start of the season they were discussing how the switch to V8 engines might require some updating to the equations that provide the display.

Well 10mm clearance may be nothing but they must run sufficiently higher than that to avoid any kind of contact with the ground or risk disqualification. Like Schumacher who spun over a kerb at Spa 94 I think it was - he took a few pieces out of his "plank" and that was that.

Here you go - just found this link which tells the story and also confirms that indeed the plank was introduced at the German GP of 1994 as a result of the tragic Imola race.

The wooden plank is 10mm thick and was introduced purely to control ground clearance as the op stated. I think I'm right in saying that if the plank is worn more than 1mm when measured after the race then it's an instant disqualification.

Wasn't the plank introduced about the same time as the temporary track modifications such as the removal of Spa's Eau Rouge and reduction of airflow to the engines by way of various slices or holes cut in the engine cover - all as a result of Ayrton Senna's death at Imola in 1994?

Are we sure these lampposts really are lampposts? They look more like trackside commentary loudspeakers. If they are, then of course as has already been mentioned, they are just additional trackside furniture to heighten the sensation of speed......maybe?

Unless, there'll be a new spectator mode where you can go and sit on one of the grass banks and hear a virtual Murray Walker!
