Quote from sermilan :Why would you need this for LFS? Driving without the actual wheel?

If you can't work that out you shouldn't be using VR!

Quote from mrgreen72 :Hey Scawen, when you have a couple of minutes could you implement support for this?

https://developer.leapmotion.com/vr

Thanks!

Looks great. If LFS could implement any kind of hand tracking I'd buy it.

Is it possible to increase the size of the position list text on the HUD? It is quite small and hard to read in the rift. Bringing the HUD closer doesn't seem to make it any bigger.

Quote from Scawen :New Test Patch 0.6F8

Now includes the dreaded health and safety warning, implemented the best way I could think of, complying with the requirements but not getting in the way too much.

Also has an option "Store driving position" to avoid setting your driving position every time you start up.

Can't see the point of installing this patch, I prefer not to have to see a H&S warning each time.

Quote from Scawen :I guess you have already turned up User LOD and Mirror LOD to maximum? (Graphics Options)

Then there is dynamic LOD reduction which you can turn down to the minimum. (Misc Options)

That should sort out the draw distances for cars. There is still some slight scenery popup due to issues with the path position based "optimiser" system which maintains a list of supposedly visible objects. You could verify this is the case by comparing it with what you see on an Open config (X or Y) because there is no optimiser used on those tracks. But lower frame rate. I am in the middle of a new optimiser system which works out which objects are visible in a more accurate way.

Thanks, didn't realise there was a dynamic LOD reduction I'll give it a go.

Quote from Tresch :Dunno if this has been mentioned, or if it's been configurable, but is it possible to bring in the near-clipping plane of the camera a bit, at least when using the Rift? it's pretty distracting when the cockpit of your car is clipping out, particularly with the open-wheel vehicles.

Agreed this really needs sorting out. Also can the mirror and default draw distance be increased as cars and scenery disappear or pop in too muc which is also ruining the immersion.

Thanks

So I've been super impressed by LFS and the first racing sim with proper DK2 support and was wondering the next step is to add my hands in VR. Got me thinking would there be any plans to add something like controlvr to LFS?

http://controlvr.com/

At $600 I think it would be worth it, you could toggle the switches in the VR cockpit, see your real hands on the wheel and most importantly to round off that true motorsport immersion give the finger to the opposition!

Does anyone know a way to map escape to a wheel button? It's driving me nuts having to lift up the rift and find my keyboard! I tried Joy2key but it doesn't work.

It's working. What an awesom feling of presence. Congrats to the Dev(s).
And Thanks to everyone who helped with the OR dll issue.

I want to buy the full license but I have one last issue.
Despite constant 75 frames I have stutter or judder of the world passing me.
This is most noticible when locking 90 degree out the window watching the scenerie passing by.
It is very noticible constant micro stutter or judder.
It is the same on a normal monitor.

I tried a lot of settings, vsync on of, anti aliasing on of, different res. and Hz, high lw settings.

Anybody has an idea on how to get rid of this.

I want to enjoy this almost perfect sim/game.

Are you running in SLI? I had that until I forced pre render frames to 1, set performance mode to best or something like that instead of multi monitor. Or disable SLI.
