Is it just me who thinks the driving is too hard in AC, way harder than in reality? I've had around 30-50 laps around the ring, and never once come near crashing/spinning around. Mostly with Swift stage 2 from r4r, some normal swifts from rrc, 4 laps in a clio rs200 (6 more on coming thursday ), 4 laps in an old Audi A3t, 6 laps in a 93 m3. Driving with the same "safe" style in AC as I do irl, I can't seem to finish a lap without spinning around and crashing. Mostly around Schwedenkreuz, Fuchsröhre, and in the whole general area after the karussell. Just a bit careless with the lift off in a turn, or breaking while turning in at higher speed cause a spin. Sure you can feel the tendencies for this in reality too, but it seems just exaggerated in this game. Hard for the sake of "realism", because hard = realistic? You feel the cars wants to do this in LFS too, but it's possible to detect it and correct it, and it feels and responds in a much more realistic way.. I dunno.. Maybe it's just habit.
It's not too bad I think, the whole second part after the karussell is not very accurate in general, and the right turn after the klostertal left turn is way off, other than that it's mostly ok, enough to have a really good time with it anyways. But I'll definitely pick up the official when it comes..
I also feel the physics is a bit nervous.. Stock abarth 500 is very nervous during breaking if not in straight line. Perhaps it's the very uneven surface of this mod that exaggerates it...
Very "sharp" vibrations, lots of noise from the wheel, when turning slightly it's almost like it's grinding its gears..
Nordschleife
Finally a decent sim where I can practice on the 'ring before going down there for the sixth time the end of this month
Who'll be the first to make a btg laptimer app?
For my part, GTA V was the disappointment of the year. SP is meh, MP is even more meh. I don't think I've played a single mission that was really good. Have to admit, I only have like 2-3 hours of MP gametime, perhaps it gets better. In SP I'm a bit further than the heist where the military is involved, and you escape on a train.
Even freeroaming in SP sucks bigtime. Terrible physics that's less fun than GTA IV, and a huge map with little to do. Flying helicopter is truly terrible. Just Cause 2 in my opinion have way better (more fun) physics of driving and flying than GTA V.
Combat is not even worth mentioning, mostly it suffers from using a controller. Maybe those that are used to it find it ok, but for me it's so incredibly much worse than using a mouse and keyboard on a computer.
Does anyone really think the graphics are good? Good graphics does not make a good game, but it sometimes help a lot. When I can stand 10m away from a door or some detail in the landscape and not see it because of jaggies and poor textures, it hinders the gameplay in my opinion.
But I think I just had too high expectations for this game.
This thread is not meant as a reminder of great deals on steam (although there are some great deals on steam!), I just wanted some opinions about GTR evolution, if it's even worth the 10 euros it costs, and how the online gameplay is.
Thinking about forking out 10 euro for Race 07 + GTR evolution on Steam, 75% discount now. Not much money, but wanna hear some opinions first:
Is the multiplayer any good? Compared to LFS that is, is it easy to find a almost full server with somewhat decent people that don't crash in t1?
Never really liked Simbin simulation, but haven't played since GTR2, has it gotten any better? Still, it got some nice tracks, and hopefully decent graphics.
And thanks to the rest of you as well, I'm impressed with how fast I got replys for my thread.
I've now opened port 29339 and 63392 both UDP and TCP in both router and windows firewall, port 29339 still gives me an error on the port check tool. Doesn't matter though, as long as I can use the 63392 port and have it working.
My router isn't on that list. And isn't that some software that you have to pay for, that sets up ports automatically anyways? I can't find any guides atleast.
I've only opened up port 29339, and use that as the port when starting a server ingame.
I've tried this tool: CanYouSeeMe.org - Open Port Check Tool, and I get this error:
Error: I could not see your service on 217.xxx.xx.xxx on port (29339)
Reason: Connection timed out
But I just started thinking. Should I use the IP that I've x'ed out over here when I'm opening ports in the router, or should I use the IP assigned to my computer (192.168.0.103)?
Every time I try hosting a server in any game, my friend can't connect to my server. I've opened the appropriate port in the router (29339) for both TCP and UDP, and I don't think my windows firewall is blocking the port (I pressed "allow" when the popup for the firewall appeared for LFS).
I'm hosting a server called test123 now, no password. Can somebody try to connect to this server, and post if it failed or not here? Just to see if the problem is with mine or my friend's computer. Would appreciate it!
I just had to format my computer, so I've just done a new install of LFS, with all my settings gone :/
I'm pretty sure I had my wheel set up before the format so that no matter what car I was driving, the dfp was always 1:1 with the ingame wheel, and also the force feedback made rotation beyond ingame wheel impossible on the dfp. Or am I wrong about this? If I set the logitech profiler to 900 degrees, and the slider in settings in LFS to 900 degrees, the wheels align, but I can still turn my dfp beyond the rotation of the wheel ingame :/
Am I going insane? Did I never have this feature? And if I did, how do I get it back?
Why do you need microcontrollers for this? Are you trying to implement support for usb? I've had some programming in C and ASM for microcontrollers (mostly pic's) in my school, but I don't think I remember much of it though.
First of all, you're mother is probably not evil. I didn't get any allowance when I was a kid, and now that I'm a bit older, I actually think that was for the best. Kids are not good with money (although spending them on electronics is good, you're right on track!)
But more to the point, you first say your GI works perfectly, then at the end of your post you say it don't work.
From what I can see in your pictures, you are using too much heat, and apply it for too long. You see those brown "burnt" areas on the upper side of your board? Those are bad, telling you that you are applying heat too long. If your Iron is hot enough (as it obviously is), it should be enough to heat the component leg for 1-2 seconds, then apply tin directly to the leg. Too much heat can burn the paths, and destroy the component.
Other than that, you're better than me in placing resistors and stuff so that it looks good! I just place it after convenience, and thats not always very nice.
I'm having some trouble with the this gear indicator i'm making.
The 7-segment works fine, and i've also added two leds, one for low fuel, and one for shiftlight.
Now, when i soldered it, i first added only one led, then set the right pin in the config file ("pin_17 low fuel 0" if that matters), and got in a car, to see if it worked, and it did.
After adding the second led, the first one works fine, but the second won't. And here's the funny thing, if i go into the config-file, and set the "pin_17 traction_control 0" or any other function, starting up the gi.exe, i can see it has the right pin in the program, but when starting lfs it STILL uses pin_17 as low fuel.
What is wrong?
Edit: Commented out all the extended pins except pin 17, and set it to traction control, didn't work. Led was off no matter what. Set it to low fuel, it works as supposed.
When starting up lfs, i get this error, "Insim - TCB: bind failed". Has this something to do with my problem?
Good to see I'm not the only one using names of real racingdrivers, and set the difficulty to the lowest setting, so it feels real good overtaking them!
I really hope this will come soon, havent played lfs much recently, but will pick the dfp up again if this gets implemented. I never was any good at making a decent setup, so a server with locked setup would be great for me, and many else too, i would think.
Those that say its merely realistic for roadcars to have ABS, it might be. But is it realistic to be able to adjust brakebias, suspension, difflock, ridehight and all the other possibilities in a roadcar? My Vectra sure as hell can't. Maybe it's just a production error on that particular car.
And when people ask for a server-option to disable ABS, why not let them have it? Maybe it's not the most realistic option, but why start with getting the smallest detail 100% realistic, when there is so many other options that could just be removed in order to make the simulation more realistic. I would love for å server-option to use locked setups, only adjustable setting would be tyrepressure.
