I never play it anymore, only check the net for updates. Hate the tirephys but the rest of the game is awesome.

also the tracks get boring very quickly.

And all this is the reason I stopped playing LFS.

I came over to have a look after not playing for what seems like a year - maybe longer. Same old crap arguments and a game thats developed at a pace slower than my dead gran.

I'm sure it will be great when its done - until then I've ****in' off back to iRacing. TTFN.

The super touring rules where the bollocks to be honnest!!

I prefered the old RS500's though. What an era that was! 80's turbo power will always rule! Group B rally, Group C sports cars, Turbo F1 motors and turbo touring cars! You will never ever beat that era!

The problem with modern motorsport is that there is far to much dependancey on aero than there is on power.

What made all old cars exciting to watch was that there was more power than grip! That ALWAYS makes for exciting racing.

Get rid of the aero dependencies and you will see more exciting racing. Its fact.

The BTCC needs to also push for a place on BBC sport - rather than ITV ****ing 4 or what ever channel its on now.

Quote from Bob Smith :It's giving more to demo users who already got a lot from the LFS demo. This is also one of the reasons why, for now, LFS Tweak development is halted.

Ahh I see what you mean.

What I propose to do is more of graphical bolt on - it doesn't give you the ability to change things just a graphical display - nothing more.

Besides I love driving my 600bhp 4wd XRT on patch Q - the game itself feels totally different on Patch V.. but thats going off subject!

If the developers of the software are willing to help me out then if they could let me know via a pm or email it would be appreciated...

...otherwise I'll have to spend my time working on statistical VB applications for my employer and I really dont wanna be doing that! :ouch:
Is there a 0 - 60mph timer mod?

Why?
Mid Field Racers....
SimonT

Do you ever get this when racing in say a 10 car race

You get the guys who are always at the front. Usually one car will always walk away with the race and a couple more cars battle it out for 2,3,4.

Towards the back of the pack you get the slow drivers and the people who spun out at turn one.

Then you get the midfield racers!

Every race I seem to do its always just me. In the middle of the field (5th or 6th) and no one to race against! Too slow for the fast guys and to fast for the slow guys!

Gets frustrating sometimes!

Quote from Wenom :I hope you make a S2 license checker in that program so demoracers won't get any satisfying feelings when using it instead of buying the full game.

My understanding is:

The latest LFS tweek only works on patch Q. There will not be further releases.

LFS tweek only works on the demo cars (XA, XR and XRT).

So licence or not surely that doesnt matter?

Like I said I wanna do it purley for personal interest and to increase my programming skills.

Quote from Bob Smith :but good luck simulating an engine or reverse engineering the LFS code.

Thanks for your input bob. And that brings me back to my original problem!

LFS engine physics engine! I doubt without the info needed my little project would get off the ground... who knows the LFS developers may decided to help out here! Then again maybe not...

I'd like to do it would be a good challenge though!

Unfortunatly this doesnt "live update" with the change in figures from LFS tweek which is what I wanna do.

Quote from Phill :i think your main problem is going to be actually getting the car physically off the ground to allow the user to run the engine and in turn the wheels, without having traction which would move the car.

I dont think you had a clue what I mean there. I'm going to be generating a whole virtual garage when you can sit around and drink tea while your car is on the rollers....

Quote from duke_toaster :Bob Smith's Gear Ratio Calculator?

Not heard of it mate? linky linky maybe please?

Also if the mods could move this to the programmers forum that would be cool

thanks
Possible virtual "dyno"?

Basically what I'm planning to do is write an application that works alongside LFS tweek that shows a "dyno" graph of your tweeked car's output.

It should be easy for me to write the app (probably in VB) to extract the values from LFS tweek, such as:

Car Type (formula, sallon, GT etc etc)
Engine Size
Turbo on/off
boost
general HP
etc ec and other values in LFS tweek.

Now LFS must use a formula to create the engine physics for these specific values etc.

Without knowing that my plan kinda falls at the first hurdle. Is this somethat thats available etc? Cause with it I think it would be handy for all the tweekers to see there power and torque graphs IMO anyway.

I'm up for coding it as I've not got much on at the moment but that all depends if developers wish to share the engine physics engine?

Many thanks

Ford Fiesta XR2i / RS Turbo?

I've been messing around with patch Q & the tweek utility and pretty much recreated my old XR2i! (the 16v edition no less! ) Spot on 0-60 times good top speed etc using the same gearing and suspension geometry as supplied by fords! It works a treat!

I'm just wonder has anyone made a model or skin for it?

The car in question:

Many thanks

Bit pointless but driving those really reminds me of driving around a mixture of Croydon and M4 elevated section!

Where they an influence in the track?
Engine Dyno Graphs...

When choosing a car would it be possilbe to display a power/torque graph of the engine - Like a LFS Dyno test or something!

Nothing essential but would be pretty cool I think!
Poor performance in Vista...

OK heres my testing machine spec.

Shuttle SN45 - Nvidia 2 Chipset running a AMD Athlon XP2800 - Unclocked.
2GB of Kingmax PC3200
80GB MAtroIDE133 HD
ATI Radieon 9600 Pro 128 - Unclocked.
Logitec MomoForce wheel (the old one - best one IMO )
LFS S2 Patch V

Anyway I am a MSDN developer and do have a test copy of Windows Vista.

I did a fresh install of XP service pack 2 and only installed the official ATI drivers for the card - and used the default card settings.

Running at 1024x768 The game runs lovely! Using the XG Turbo around blackwood and just me on the track I get a peak of 110FPS and on the pit straight around 70FPS. Solid.

Curiosity got the better of me so I flattened the said machine and installed Vista - Only installing the ATI Vista (Beta) Drivers...

Now I dont know if its a ATI driver problem or a Vista Issue, but using default graphic settings I'm only getting around 30 - 40FPS at most around the whole track!

With a full race at blackwood I get a pisspoor rate of 20FPS or thre abouts throught the whole race!

Not the most technical of experiments but theres one hell of a noticable difference! Maybe its vista.. maybe its the ATI beta drivers... who knows.

Either way I'm putting XP back on the machine tonight!

I am a MSDN developer and have run into a problem when running the "tweek" utility on windows vista.

You cannot manually register the OMCDLG32.OCX file - and you are greated with an error.

Shame really.
