I constructed this racing cockpit a couple days ago. Total cost was $21 in supplies. I started by measuring all the dimensions from my drivers seat so that I had references when cutting the wood. Things came out pretty well and I feel like im sitting in my car while play LFS and Gran Turismo. The seat is fully adjustable forward, backward etc.
I have never in my life built anything wood related..so if you are a trained carpenter.... sorry if I jacked up your trade. I do have hours of Bob Villa and Chuck Norris video/movies under my belt. I watched them make things out of wood a few times.
total time from start to getting back to my room roughly 4 hours
I tested the setup out and it drives very well. I will brace it with some L brackets... It's pretty solid without them but I just want extra bracing because I have the force feedback on 10. Tomorrow I will Fab up a Shifter mount.
If you want to build your own, I have all of the measurements.
The only reason I had Brembo slotted-drilled on my 240 was they were a give away from a totaled car. However... they didnt kill my pads which were Hawk Pro pads. My 240 was auto-crossed, drifted and dragged with no issues in the braking department.
If the Drilled rotors are not top of the line, they will crack for sure as mentioned above. Honestly........ regular vented rotors will do you fine. I currently race/drift my Skyline with regular vented rotors with Nismo SS brake lines. I use Uras brake pads up front to help transfer weight forward easier when performing braking drifts etc.
.......... My connection was bad and I could not watch the movie.. so from what I have seen over the years.. I just took a guess. Post count on a site doesn't equal knowledge lol.. I have been around for a bit.
I have been racing and building cars for 9 years. I have watched my share of WRC.... no guru at all in that area.
In my SCCA region.. there are kids who are awesome behind the wheel of a shifter kart.. they are below 12. If the kid can see over the dash and push the pedals.. I think they are good enough.
Yea guys over at GTplanet were making systematic times to get online and race together.
However Its something I like to do but its not my life. I use clash with them a lot because they played the game and spoke as if they race in reality and they didn't. So I don't race under the GTP name any longer.
I just got the g25 and its very solid on GT5P over my DFPII. I'm re downloading LFS at the moment to test out the G25 with. Should be very cool I would think.
I have not really been online in the last 9 months do to deployments to Iraq and getting back to japan and racing/drifting in reality more than online. Ill check it out today and see if the system is better.
The only issue I seen was when punters would hit me from behind and I would get the penalty lol.
I have been active in motorsports now for the last 9 years. I'm from Baltimore Maryland and part of the US Air Force. My stateside daily drifter is a 89 KA-T 240sx that I bought 6 years ago. this car has been through hell and back and I have personally built it from the ground up to my liking. Minus the Fail wheels lol everything else is ok.
I am now stationed in Northern japan. I drift a 94 Nissan Skyline R33 Gts25-t here.
Not new to forums or LFS.. just getting back into it. I logged/log many hours on Gran Turismo on my downtime before getting into LFS and its the only game I like besides Gran Turismo
