ok this is definatly my problem


I join a server with 10 racers, FPS was averaging 15 sometimes up to 20-23 but lots of times down around 9-15

tried a single player and it was up and around 25-30 (although i only drove to the first corner)


Can you give me some tips on what to adjust and where to improve this, i'll try what i can understand obviously im going to need to upgrade my pc eventually but which parts need changing?

But most importantly i can check things and actually understand what im doing and for what resaon!!! hahaha

I'll look into my fps and see what happens, i'll certainly let you know how i get on.

Yes i believe it may well be low fps in that case, i only very occasionally suffer with the cars dissapearing with a lag time above, its definatly jerky. Other cars do jump about a bit from time to time but mainly its very jerky, causes me to crash a lot when otheres are near. but runs fine when on my own or not too near a crowd, its like someone is pressing pause and releasing it very quickly.

as for ping, i tried different servers with varying ping rates, even some with 45 were still the same, im guessing this also leans towards low fps?

can you explain what ping is and maybe briefly its rate's importance?

I'll have to turn the fps rate on to see what im getting, can you give me an idea as to what it a decent frame rate??

I have been playing LFS since demo 0.1 days so im not exactly a noob, im just to a computer wiz if ya know what i mean

as for pc spec, its a 1.3ghz, 256kram, 40gb hd

thats about all i know, gforce4 or 3 rings a bell?

also i shutdown every other running program (norton, pop up stopper, email etc etc) but still the same

i cant go into servers with too many people cos its glitchy and as soon as someone goes close to me the same thing (sometimes ok with 1 person but more than 1 and its a joke )

can ya suggest anything?

since s2 came out i have terrible trouble with lag, generally at the start of a race or when near someone else, also when people pit a lot

im no computer wiz so in very simple terms would be great

i have a 1mb broadband line and never had any probs b4 s2

does my pc need upgrading or summit???
