Probably going to go for the Volvo, need to drive one first then if it's any good, find one with the specs I expect. Black or dark blue, non-leather seats, no ugly woodgrain interior panels, tiptronic, 2.4l petrol and maybe a turbo.
Maybe you guys do things a little differently in the USA, I have never sprayed myself with urine of any kind, and I don't use tree stands. I prefer to walk into the bush, find deer sign then track/stalk my prey until an opportunity to chuck an arrow at it arises. Taking into account terrain, wind and sound, I enjoy the stalking more than the kill shot although bbq back steaks certainly are an excellent byproduct.
As for the bow fishing side, we are spoilt here when it comes to water clarity, the main issue is our primary freshwater sport fish is Trout, which can only be taken by rod, artificial fly or spin only, with a few places bait can be used. There are a few lakes/ponds where carp can be shot with a bow, but saltwater bow fishing would be my pick.
I'd recommend bow hunting, I haven't fired a rifle in almost 15 years now. It's so much more visceral when you are stalking your prey, getting a lot closer than would using a boom stick.
I forgot to add, you can fish with a bow as well, only had the opportunity to try it once, but it's rather fun being able to selectively target a specific fish you have sighted.
Pretty much, but already have a ute for work. I came on here to ask for peoples opinions of European station wagons / estates. If I wanted a sporty Asian econobox or Australian meathead mobile I would have gone to a forum that has local knowledge of them.
Maybe I was mistaken thinking the LFS forum being mainly based in Europe was a good place to look for guidance when needing input on European vehicles.

Right, so after reading the about posts, It looks like the Passat and Audi are out due to being basically the same car and the engines are hand grenades.
Looked at a V70 and I think I prefer the V50 for looks.
Petrol engines are what I have been looking to get as we have a mileage tax here for diesels (can't trust the wife to keep up to date on these, It's hard enough getting her to do Warrant of Fitnesses and Annual Licensing on the current van).
I had a quick look at a Skoda Octavia when I decided to by a replacement daily driver for the wife, but after having a Skoda S110L as my first car ~23 years ago I'm scared for life when it comes to that brand, and also as you mentioned, they are butt ugly.
On a side note, what are Europeans cars like for reliability nowadays? Every dealership I have talked to say their cars are the best (as expected), but when asked about failure rates they avoid the question.
I'm in the market to buy a new family car, the beat up old '96 Toyota Estima Lucida 7 seater is just about ready for the scrap pile.
After a bit of looking around the local (New Zealand) car sales websites I've decided to go for something European rather than the usual Japanese fodder.
Having little knowledge and experience with anything other than Japanese, old British cars (early Leyland and Morris) and Russian (proud owner of what is now my third Lada Niva). I'd like to hear from people who have a little local knowledge or even just your opinion.
Currently under consideration are:
07-09 Volvo V50 2.4 SE
07-10 Audi A4 Avant
Maybe Volkswagen Passat (not super keen on these)
Also been offered 07 Mercedes C180 Kompressor (bit of wanker factor?)
Can get low km, very tidy examples for under $15k NZD (or about $7.6k GBP)
Nice, I had a '72 Clubman years ago with a few Cooper S parts bolted on, was a lot of fun to drive. Over here in NZ that Mini wouldn't pass our WOF test (warrant of fitness) as the tyres protrude past the arches.
Oh, we used to dream of havin' an Audi!
Would ha' been like gold to us.
We used to have an old Skoda 100 piece of rubbish. We got woke up every morning by having to push start it!
Audi? Huh.
I had a S110L as my very first car, the only good things about it were the ability to leave the car unlocked 24/7 with the keys in the ignition, and coming to a corner on the open road with a speed recommendation of 50kph and thinking, I wish I could do that.
After a brief look through the cars here, I start thinking I should maybe clean my car rather than just waiting for it to rain. Then I remember it's a 4x4 and mud is good for the complexion.
But I cannot watch it, even if I was to pay for it, as I live in NZ and Sky has exclusive rights to broadcast the race.
It's the first year ever that it has been broadcast on pay tv, and the first year since I was about 4 years old that I will not get to watch The Great Race.
