I was going to offer to ship mine, since I have a broken G25 sitting on my floor. (Motor controller died). However the cheapest shipping option even for a flat padded envelope is around $35.

The Oil pressure gauge pseudo-works in the LX series cars, but you won't be able to use them as you are a demo user.

Gimme a break. I'm try to get a hang of car control XD. I need setups too. So, I'm tinkering with stuff to see what they do.

Ah, crap. I was really tired last night. I apologize for my rash and hasty response.

I've been browsing the forums and decided to give in and hook up my G25 and try LFS once more. I'll just need somebody to help me learn some better racing techniques and teach me how to adjust my car's setup.

Thanks

Jesus Christ... I posted a simple thread stating I was bored of the game and hope that the next patch rekindles my interest and you two numbskulls go off in an all out Duel.

Perhaps this is why I stopped playing LFS. Not because I found it boring, or wasn't that great at it. Maybe it's the fact that most of the LFS community act like children, constantly yelling at each other and being completely nonconstructive.

I used to almost live on LFS a few years back. A few months after Z28, I took a break, telling myself that I'd start playing again after the next patch.

Well, time has passed, and I'm kinda sad. I miss playing LFS, but I find it's current state boring. I was never good at racing, and all the racing servers had people who consistently tweaked and improved and I could never be as good as them

Anyway, I do look forward to the next patch (whenever it may come) and I hope it's as good as I dream it will be.

Ok thanks alot. I will tinker with your suggestion and hopefully, with some serious tutorial readings, produce a decent outgauge application.

car sound change command?

Is there a console command or whatever that can change your Shift-A car sound set? I've looked everywhere and tried everything that seemed logical but to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

In the options menu, you could tinker with the gearshift debounce time. It controls the minimum time between paddle shifts. It should help with or even eliminate accidental paddle shifts. Just my 2 cents.

I own a PNY Verto 9600gt and I honestly recommend to not buy one. The cooling fan on the card is a cheap sleeve bearing fan and mine has worn out after about 6 months of use. I've ordered a new on and its on the way, but thats another $30 you may have to shell out. Also the gfx card bios permanently undervolts this card which means, it runs very cool (which is good) but is impossible to overclock without reflashing your bios.

Wow, I used to have SODA Offroad racing. Used to play it on my P2 Dell 450mhz computer. Always got angry cause it took 4 hours for the AI to learn my new tracks.
Anyway, back on topic. I really like this program, and I've been tweaking the config file (mostly ending up making it worse). Only thing I can see to improve or suggest is to either have separate configs for each car or have the config file contain a different setup for each car. Just my 2 cents. Awesome program though.

I'm sure the devs are working on these and other issues, but since unless the devs come out themselves and tell everybody, there's no telling when anything is released. If I recall correctly, Scawen said in one of his test patch posts that collision updates are going to be implemented before LFS loses its alpha tag.

Thanks for the good feedback, I'll be slowly working on some other textures. I'm trying to get good at photoshop

It will fit the same, but you can use better quality textures. Depending how old your computer is, it might effect your framerate. Just so you know

I made an LX4 and LX6 exhaust. The new file is 1024x and has higher quality carbon fiber for both exhausts. I also replaced the rusty old pipe with stainless steel looking pipe. Let me know what you think.

Quote from AjRose :I dont agree at all with this section.

Have any of you ever driven a real car? Sure most cars wont be able to recover from 200 rpms but some will. And being in that situation is so unlikely most people will not ever notice it.

I am quite sure I drive myself in my truck almost everyday. It has a 5-Speed manual gearbox. I can drive as low as 150 rpms before it actually cuts out. Albeit it is a very VERY rough and uncomfortable ride. This can actually be seen in LFS is you get going in a higher gear at about 500 rpms and floor it, the camera will shake as each piston fires. I just think, as has been said before many times, that the engines need reworking. I don't know how to put this into words, but it feels the engines need more mass... There is little to no engine braking in any cars unless you dramatically downshift near or past the redline. Perhaps all the cars are equipped with lightweight flywheels.

Quote from NightShift :
Engine Simulation
  • Revs should drop much quicker than now, when throttle is closed - I suppose this also could be affecting engine brake to a degree.
  • Engine should stop more or less instantly when ignition is turned off: instead it takes quite some time (seconds?) to go from idle to zero.
  • The engine on most cars should not be able to rev as low as 100-200 RPM and then come back without stalling.

I agree with this entire section, although the time in which the engine turns off doesn't really need to be changed. How often do you turn off your engine in a race? As to the stall speed, I've been able to drive a car(ingame) at very low rpms, But they seem to be extremly underpowered at those rpms. I hope you uderstand what I mean.

I didn't want to make a new thread, so here it goes. TC also limits engine power when your clutch starts slipping. In the FZ50 if your clutch gets about halfway on the meter and it slips really badly, the TC will control the engine to limit the slip. I think this needs to be removed as its not stopping wheel spin.

Lol I can see it now. Somebody is driving hard and their temperatures are near off the charts. the radiator cap blows leaving lots of steam. Them they go F12 and select, top off coolant. I wouldn't mind alot of complexity when it comes to pitstops and damage, because lets face it, You can damage a single part, which in turn affects possibly dozens of other vital parts, leaving you stranded.
Having to monitor temps and pressures would only increase the realism IMO. I reckon if this is ever to be implemented, it will be around the same time as better damage modelling.

Or perhaps LFS would randomly choose one of your car sounds and apply them to the other cars. As I have about 3 per car, it would increase the diversity and you wouldn't have to deal with other peoples "annoying" sounds

Forgive me for being hasty and crude with my grammar, but its 4 AM and my stupid back button has caused me to write this post THREE TIMES... :Eyecrazy:
Regarding the people arguing\debating(whatever) on comparing the simulators, LFS has to be the best SIMULATOR there is. It is even advertised as an "Online Racing Simulator" not game. The training machines or whatever truck drivers have to practice driving before they ever get into a truck is a simulator.(These Things) Those things dont have DX9 graphics and awesome shading options. Just bare minimums to get the intended input from the user.
All that matters is the realism of the vehicle being driven, And Live for speed surpasses all my expectations of a racing simulator being developed by 3 people, (or less if one is sick :shy Anyway ill probably edit this later cause im going to bed

I used this a while back, and since you had me searching about it, I came across this MLCAD. Seems to be better than this digital designer. I'm just now starting to look at it, and it seems you can download new parts from a few websites... Hopefully it includes technic parts too.

If you can find out what socket your processor is, It might do you some good to buy a new motherboard with PCI-e support. AGP cards are "Going out of style" and are (atleast here in the US) becoming unrealistically pricey.

Besides getting a decent motherboard will ensure a good platform for future upgrades as well. Good luck in your computer making.
