I know the threads a few months old but just thought I'd mention that there are some layout editing programs around. Been a while since I've done layouts in LFS so don't know how far these programs have progressed. I recall one that allowed you to group objects & then copy/paste them, that way you could set up object groups outside of the racing area & place them back in like a jigsaw (handy for chicanes, corners, etc). Also made it easy to zoom out & get a bird's eye view for layout screenshot.
Of course, you would have to load up LFS & test drive (& tweak) to get best results.
Will have to remember the speed bumps trick for wall runners. I would think hay bales would be effective too.
A bunch of assorted layouts that I created long time ago (mostly recreated due to LFS updates). Have only tested by myself & on a few LAN gaming nights . Feel free to use 'em on a server (would like to try online myself so let me know if your hosting :P ).
Layouts include replays to make them easier to navigate (*.spr files), supplied links to skins too (some skins created by me, some not. Thanks go to those skin creators. If you want the link to your skin removed please let me know.) Currently only hosted on RapidShare Free (files are auto-deleted after 30 days of no downloads) because of inept ISP still not giving me my webpage info, so if links aren't working let me know so I can re-upload the files.
Layouts from local car club motorkhana: https://rapidshare.com/files/3556842381/AU1_real-mk.zip
approx 110kb
9 layouts with replays. If you switch view to "top down" you should be able to see a mini-map version of each layout at the end of each replay.
did have a couple of others that were side-by-side racing (hoping that LFS will someday support this), but haven't got around to re-creating them since last update
Brief install instructions:
extract files from zip
select sort by extension in you file manager (mainly for zips with mutliple layouts)
lyt (layout) files go into the "LFS\data\layout" folder
spr (replay) files go into the "LFS\data\spr" folder
jpg (skins) files go into the "LFS\data\skins" folder
dds (skins) files go into the "LFS\data\skins_dds" folder
/me slaps himself. Just noticed the attachments option. Will have to do that later.
Added some previews as requested, due to scale of some they're difficult to do pics for (hillclimb layouts [avg of 2min run]). Didn't do motorkhana pack ones either.

vLFSdash didn't work for me either (I have 'Live for G15' which works the same way & it runs fine). Disabled all other LFS extras, disabled firewall, tried various ports, nothing.
When pressing 'Connect to LFS' nothing was sent/received (had other software monitor vLFSdash). Re-enabled 'Live for G15' (which still worked fine), but no vLFSdash comms.
herctrap: did you edit cfg.txt in your LFS dir?
from vLFSdash help:
change the below
OutGauge Mode 1
OutGauge Delay 1
OutGauge IP 127.0.0.1
OutGauge Port 4000 (port # application is run on, ports 100-65000, default=4000)
OutGauge ID 0

Just a small thing, would like to see the tyres go dirty when they pick up dirt (would be most noticable in open wheeler). Maybe just some sort of transparency thats always on the tyre & gets more opaque when the tyre is dirtier. Could be linked to the tyre HUD (F9) as that displays dirt pickup.
Many cars do have speedos, including ones with MoTEC style displays (those are the very common LCD displays for ppl that don't know). These displays usually have multiple 'pages' which are usually cycled by a button on the steering wheel. One of the pages usually has KM/H (or MPH).
Would also be good if you could choose to change only 1, 2 or 4 tyres during pitstop (eg: 2 rears or 2 right side). Quite often I really only need to change 2 tyres in a pitstop because the others are still good (mostly because of my driving style, but I drive the same I.R.L.).
SoftTH needs 3 monitors to run, nVidia used to have a span mode in WinXP but it seems to have been removed (due to it not working in Vista/Win7) which is frustrating.
ATi have a span mode too (for all 3 OSes), seems that nVidia are to slack to try & get this feature working in Vista/Win7.
There is also some hardware out there that allows you to run more monitors off a single port (Matrox one seems to be the best) but they can be expensive.
Here's hoping that nVidia add this feature back in (I run 2 monitors & have an nVidia card) but it's not likely as it's been like this since Vista. Been using nVidia cards for years, but looks like I'll have to change to ATi.
