Another question, if i choose to keep my trusty xp and run a dual boot system (xp and 7 at the same hd) where i can choose witch system to boot on, will i be able to run lfs no matter what?
Thinkin of the serial key unlock problem.
Dont i need to unlock lfs on the new 7?
And if i choose to boot on xp, is that unlocked lfs locked again?
In my example i have two fysical harddisks. HD1 with xp on (and perhaps 7 as a dual boot) and HD2 with my games installed on.
I had mine for a year now.
The problem i had at first was that the wheel was to long away from me ( I like to have the wheel high and close to my body). So I had to mount an extra rectangular steel plate on the wheel stand that give me a couple of extra inches so I could get the wheel a bit closer to me.
No big deal though.
Bout the backrest I can agree. No support for the back at longer races wich can be a little annoying.
Im not sure how it works but i think it smooths out the difference between loud sounds and tiny sounds. And it does it for every sound source.
Some games have a very loud soundfield so you must immediately lower the volume and others you have to increase the volume.
And for example in 3d shooters you can hear an ei sneak on to you very clear but when the firing starts its not that loud boom that make your ears cry for help it works wery well and if the sounds are to loud to be healthy it cuts off the peak a bit
Bad example perhaps but i mean the difference between several speakers than only two speakers. Huge different in the immersion. Sure the tellys speaker are thin and all
Same if you take headphones connected to a pc and change the soundfield between stereo vs multichannel/5.1. Talk about difference there too
My soundcard (x-fi xtreme gamer) can simulate 3D surround sound from only two channel so its not so bad after all. But i would be more than glad if lfs could be shipped with real surround sound
Its 2008 now. I think that you could ask at least surround sound from a descent game nowadays. Even iRacing has it.
Or do we want to go back to the ol' 16 channel sound system and 16bits colouring stuff i mean we have come along way with hardware + software so i really cant see the problem how can people be satisfied with "only" stereo sound At least for me a good sound system is a big difference.
You guys who have a descent surround system hooked up to the telly knows what i mean for example. Turn the stereo of and stick with the tv's sound only. Big big difference. Very thin and poor.
I dont think its fair to compare the rinoseat with more expansive seats. Rinoseats purpose was to be easy to set up for a race and then take it away when not needed anymore.
And by that it does a very good joob. No doubt bout that.
I think you have to put different seats into different classes. Simple as that.
By the way, whats up with "my chassis can take nearly half a ton on the wheelmount"
Is that something really needed on a playseat. Or is it if you hit a wall in 200k/hm and the rigg can stand the inpact or somthin
I am i proud owner of a Rinoseat. Had it for a couple of weeks now.
I understand that the seat looks weak and "flimsy" but it sure aint.
The construction is wery well and its very solid and stable.
It uses your body weight as a stabilizer and therefore the chair itself doesn't need to be a big heavy coloss
Sure, if you can have a seat placed permanently all the time at front of your screen, maybe you could get a more permanent solution of a "heavier" seat. But like myself and sure many other simracers i have to remove the seat while not racing and move it back to infront of my monitor when im into some good racing.
The sit comfort is excellent and you can sit for loong sessions. Im 184cm long and 90kg heavy and have no problems att all to feel comfort in the seat.
So for the modest price (around 200EUR) its a very good choice. I haven't tried any other playseat/racing seat so i cant compare with them but this seat is good enough for me
I for an example would like to be able to map keys to move my seat on the fly like you can in GTR, GTR2, rFactor. Would be great so you could find the best cockpit view instead of bringin up the "options" menu and pull a slider.
Perhaps in the future they will inplament such future
The idea of trackir is the need for small movements of the head to "pan" the view around. Small movements wont focus your head away from the screen.
The problem is if the software mentionend above is sensitive enough?
But i like the idea of having a webcam as an alternative to trackir.
Someone perhaps (with a webcam) can try it out and let us know
I just paid. I love to see the new skins people put so much work on and offcourse i want to see them in the best quality that is possible
After all its not much money right
I bought rFactor a couple of weeks ago because i heard so much good bout some mods and stuff. And some really fun online races though.
My first impressions of the game was how "old" everything feldt. The game menus, the way you joined servers (buggy as hell sometimes) the lack of a proper gamefilter (theres a ton of mods, just show the ones i have goddamit) "dont show password servers" anyone :P
But i didn't give up, i really tried to learn how the game works. Tried to find some mods i could coupe with and im starting to enjoy this game. I really had some fun races with the superclio mod.
So after all this could be a good/better (?) game but there are still some things to work on. Ex: game menus , server/game filter, credit system (whats up with that?)
Samarium: i hated the game at first, as a matter of fact i tried to get a refund but never figured out how to do that. But now im slowly getting to like the game . . . or the mods . . . whatever
