Can´t remember really when I started with LFS 12-13 years ago now? Was part of some amazing teams, dE-racing, Boomerang Rapido, Cyber and SDRA. I retired in 2005-06 due to University studies and life in general. I did some iRacing for awhile but haven't touched my wheel in 4 years now. My own racing career stopped in 2005, was doing Formula Renault, and I started to be a race-engineer and driver coach for a number of young talents here in Sweden. Which led me in to Mechanical engineering studies and continued race-engineering at Volvo Polestar in the WTCC and STCC. My latest assignment was Prince Carl Philip of Sweden in STCC back in 2013. Since then life have slowed down and I have been working with Autonomous driving and Active safety development while I got married and had a kid. Going from little time to sim-race to none at all. If I get 5 minutes to game I prefer to mini-nuke Mirelurks in Fallout 4 nowadays.

Nice memories with all the people on the list that Fordie made. Best memories must be building setups with Sinbad and Lefty and the rest o the Boomerang Rapido crew on Fern Bay. Beating records, sharing setups, mutating them, breaking new records thinking one would be unbeatable on raceday, only to find that Vykos and the Ocrana boys was just as fast if not quicker.

Site: Setupfield, it means you don´t have to beg or spend hours on a setup to be competetive at a particular combo.

Application: I hardly ever use any, but if I had to pick one it would be Lfs spectator.

Team: Cyber! I No motivation needed there

League: MoE is the one and only league to win to be considered top of the line. I kinda lack bigger leagues at the moment. STCC is a newcomer to the scene. I only heard about it a month of two ago. The rest seems quite at the moment.

[quote=bbman;266923]First of all: Good short-guide, but you're cutting quite some corners with it... For example, ride height isn't just how high your car sits, it also affects suspension travel, which affects grip... So only writing "lower ride height improves handling by lowering cog" is just plain wrong... [quote]

It is meant to be an easy to understand guide. The corner cutting that has been made to simplify but still keep the basic principal. Understanding something so complex like all parts and how they interact into smallest detail is something that requires 5 years of university or more. It effects suspension, downforce and cog but does that effect how you tune your car in Lfs? Since the effect between ride height and downforce isnt implemented in Lfs at this point. So basicly in a Lfs enviroment all you need to know is dont run too low becuase then it will touch the ground and slow you down.

About the ackermann ist quite difficult to understand even for me, thats why I probably need to change that.

@Mikey

Yes you are correct, the problem when I wrote it was, how I can explain it in the most simple terms I could use. Using the weight as an example is easier to understand and you get the same principal if you are thinking of it as speed at which the weight is moving or just mass moved. But its correct that shocks do controll at which speed the weight is transferred.

@Axus

Good point, I will put it in at a later date.

Well its been a great time in SDRA but the time has come to move on to other things. I will remember SDRA Super invitational race and good battles in Gummicupen as my best memories of this time. Its always sad to leave good friends but I hope to see all of you on some dusty highway road near Fern Bay.

Well to explain this at lenght would require alot of time. I will try and give the short version of this.

Lfs is the closest simulator to real racing as you can get today, but there are a few things that is not good at all/ or not implemented yet in the pyhsics engine that is essential to really complete the picture. If you take away tire, aero and the non existent undertray pyshics in the game. I would say they are pretty much spot on. Reactions to setup changes is overall very good, and that is something lfs developers should be very proud over, since it is difficult to get a real car to react correctly to setup changes.

Then there is better cars and worse cars in the game aswell. The worst car would be FZ50 and the two best car in my opinion that is closest to reality is FXO and FOX. However I belive that when tire pyshics gets done properly all cars will get alot better. I think that FXO and FOX just overcomes the difficulties of undertray, aero and tire pyshics better then the other cars right now.

The basic psyhic engine in Lfs is the best by far. Atleast that´s what I think. When all parts fall into place i´m sure no other game will beat it for a long time to come, atleast when it comes psyhics.
