Never heard of a PS2 > USB converter. If there is one, it should work just fine. On the other, I would suggest to buy a ForceFeedback wheel instead of a vibration only wheel. Makes it so much more realistic to drive...
6600GT from Gigabyte is available with a passive cooling, means there is no fan resulting in absolutely NO noise. Your system is fine for a better card than a 9600/9700. Choosing a 9800pro would give a good boost, but those are not available without fans, meaning noise.
There are some charts comparing both Nvidia and ATi Graphic Boards. Nearly all of them should be a good replacement for your card. Even replacing your Radeon 9000 with a 9600 or 9800 should give you a good boosst. But I wouldn't by those, choosing a passively cooled X800 or Nvidia 6800 should be a good choice.
Just check your boards documentation wether you need PCI-e (express) or AGP type.
Oh, wait, I think both Linux and Windows try to copy MacOS! Remember who invented the graphical desktop and the trash bin on it? Ha. Hm, maybe... it may have been GEO for C64 and not Mac who had it first, but... pointless.
Just noticed that you can't add your preferred type of steering etc. without adding your birthday. Also, trying to use 03 for month March does not work, you need to strip the leading 0... Saving without the 0 works, but then lfsw adds the 0 by itself again. illepall All minor things, just wanted to note it down somewhere...
Something different: Could we have those quick filters for the server list like we have ingame? On the ingame server browser, there are tose quicklinks showing only servers with FWD cars and so on, would love to have that on LFSW.
Yeh, all the cars and all the tracks... try them offline. Once you race online, it will help you very much to concentrate on 2 or 3 car/track combinations. Also, starting to race online with the smaller (demo) classes will also help, as these are waaaaaay easier to drive than the ones like GTR class. Those are real beasts and you won't learn as much as with a car you got under full control. I personally made the mistake of starting my LSF carreer on FZR, which didn't help. After a while I switched to FOX and now XFG and sometimes UFR, which makes racing very enjoyable and gives nice head2head fights.
VTEC is about as pointless as diesel, isn't it? The diesel has full boost at low rpm where vtec has an extra boost at high rpm, right? I think that's what it does in Lotus Elise MK2, tell me if I talk about something totally different.
/edit: Mhkay, think I referred to Toyota's VVTi technique. But this seems to be not very far from vtec...
Medion use ExcelStor HDs iirc. And their Mainboards have a lack of features, like missing temperature monitoring, no controls for fan speeds, ... That's what I have seen as a friend asked me to help him with his broken Medion PC.
/edit: As long as there is allready another partition with the free space, it would be no problem to format it without losing your running windows. Thus, you could install XP a second time on the second partition so would have access to your old files for a while. If there is no partition, software like PartitionMagic may help you.
Airplanes. Airplanes! I'd like to have Czesna Single Motor planes, modern Jets and - of course - Airbus A380 and some airports with passengers to pick up.
No wait, there are enough classes in my opinion. I would like to see more choice in each class.
Ok, try to set 'schreibgeschützt' to no and 'archiv' to yes, and not for the complete data folder, but for the subfolder skins and skins_x. The choice at Screenshot 2 is correct, that goes for all subfolders and files. If it still does not change the attributes, repeat it with the whole 'LFS alfa' folder.
1. Please check with Win Explorer or whatever the attributes of your skins and skins_x folder. Select it in Explorer, hit ALT+Enter an check that there is no write protection enabled. Maybe the files are downloaded, but not saved due to write permissions. A CD-ROM ist a WORM media so file/folder attributes are handled as read-only.
2. I forgot my second idea. I have been late for work today and it seems that this day is not my day. :P Maybe I will recall it later ...
The new Thrustmaster wheel is worth a look. It features 5 Axis, so you could use one of the analog shift thingies for clutch like in real racing cars. There is more information here, and somewhere in the hardware section in this forum as on rscnet as well. You can even purchase a set of pedals from thrustmaster, giving you a total of 4 pedals. These are sold seperately.
I haven't found a shop to give this wheel a try yet, but think it will be the next one I am gonna buy.
Sorry, but a V8 boxer need to roar like an elk during rutting season and a turbocharged car needs more than a popoff sound, it needs a screaming kitchen mixer sound on high rpm. LFS has the nice feature of a hearing aid, but the sound feels way to good-behaved to me. Even my supercharged Mini Cooper sounds way more agressive and tempting. Hope devs will redo it.
