Thank for all the replies. Thank you Gutholz for the replays. You seemed to skid as much as I do but accelerated faster. I'll keep trying.Thumbs up

Thank you so much for all the great replies. When I read the first reply, I figured I'd get just more of those. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not trying to put BeNoM down for the sarcasm. I like sarcasm but in this case it was less than helpful. Big grin

I have the engine reving at close to redline, then go into 1st as soon as allowed whilst keeping the accelerator flat. I then change to 2nd when the wheels stop spinning and the revs are almost in red again. Then I have to be careful not to crash into OK or Good (?) as we enter the first turn. At that stage I have not enough pace to catch anyone.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a video that may help me? The links to other training videos do not work anymore.

Thanks again all, including BeNoM Thumbs up

Hi,
I'm trying to go through the basic training.

Has anyone actually managed to overtake a car in this task? If so, how?

Very frustrating.

Cheers for any help provided.

Tbofram, I like your idea. I would like a real working dash but lack the knowledge to do it myself. If someone produced a plug and play dash at a reasonable price, I would buy it. I already have good wheel but have also thought about one of the many racing seat assemblies. Only problem is where to put it.

The last movie was particularly good. As I am rarely able to stay out of other drivers paths, I prefer not to race online. Though it is so much more fun online, that is until you cheese someone off with bad driving

Very nice work mate

I had a look at that web site for the plans. As I am an ex kraut myself, I could read some of it. Where do krauts get off with words like studentengeldbeuteltauglich? You'd think they are paranoid of spaces or something Why not write student engeld beutelt auglich? Even then I have no idea what the hell it says

I was not able to see most of the pictures because I kept getting an error message from the site. Is it down?

BTW, I guess you guys have seen these?

If your not so handy, might be the way to go.

You're in a really comfortable position of having a great piece of WORKING code that some niche customers love because it provides an outstanding value to them. If I were you, I'd work on licensing that to other companies to help funding the further development of the engine, maybe by creating a Forza/GT4 killer on top of LFS engine (all sim racers wet dream).

The other option I see is to ask your team members to prepare another, less demanding game using your code - maybe something devoted to rally cross, which you really don't seem to treat in LFS with as much respect as it deserves (it's fun and doesn't require 1337 asphalt skillz) or maybe something WRC related (there's only RBR which is really interesting), although this will require funds and a great dose of marketing skills, to help it be profitable..

No Bloody Way!! This sound more like "Let's milk the cash cow". Whilst I don't want to second guess the Development team, nor would I deny them every success, I feel they want to do this their way, and I think they are doing themselves very proud indeed.

And to be honest - even though people in my part of europe earn on average a couple times less than in other countries, I really wouldn't mind to buy 2-3 games with the LFS' feeling a year instead of paying 1/3rd for one LFS every 2 years. And I don't think I'm alone on that.

You may not be alone, but I get my left nut you are in a very small minority. I want to see nothing from these developers other than the completion of this masterpiece, no matter how long it takes.

That's the sort of post I'd expect from Lautsprecher. Don't lower yourself to his level mate.

OK, I have this program working now. After driving a lap in single player mode I get the messages "Failed to create ghost file" and "failed to load ghost car file".

Any ideas?

Am I missing the point here? what help is it to see a ghost car doing the same crap driving I do? I need the ghost car to do the hot laps I download from good drivers so I can see where they brake, turn etc.

Allan Grice? really? How could I forget mate

I am not very good myself. I prefer to race against the AI cars at the moment because they don't get cheesed off with me for doing something stupid.

You say Victor won't listen to you? Hmm, how could he ignore advice from a V8 legend? You would have the best sugestions by far. Not sure what you mean by the setups being "sque wiff". I don't really know how to adjust stuff for a given track. I just download other's setups lol.

As for joining a team, as I said before I am not a good driver and prefer off line racing until I at least know when to bloody steer and brake well. It would be nice if there was some force feedback from the wheel when steering because at the moment I just don't get the feedback that I do from a real car, if you know what I mean.

I don't agree with your calling the game bodgie lol. At least they are having a serious go, unlike all the arcade games out there like need for speed and V8 Supercars.

VICTOR, LISTEN TO ALAN GRICE!!!!!

Hey, I just looked at your public profile and it says you are 19 and from Argentina. That aint cool making fun of Alan Grice mate

I was just wondering if anyone knows of an importer of race tracks? I am only interested in the V8 Supercars Mt. Panorama track.

A very valid comment.

After visiting the setup site, I did find it a tad awkward to use, mainly because I had some trouble working out the shortened car names. :-P

What if that site had a zip file for multiple setups? Would that be a good thing?

I would love to see a car like the V8 Supercars that race at Bathurst.

I have not found a car like them yet in S2. The closest seems to be the FXO GTR but the sound is just not right.

Other than that, I really like S2.

I loaded a replay and select output lap data. I type in a name and hit OK. The title says "next lap". So I do another lap and nothing happens. How do I get an raf file from my replays?

Thank you very much for that link. I had never heard of it. It is all well and good for someone to post a question of why ppl don't just download setups but if they don't post the web site it doesn't help much.

Also thanks to WorldFamous and Bob Smith for their files.
