You have to make assumptions/conversions based upon film dimensions and camera lens, ie 35mm normal eye view is 50-55mm focal length. 35mm provide slightly larger field of view. Considering there was no apparent distortion in the cockpit with the driver's hands and the front wheels, one must concede would they used a near "normal" lense from the human perspective and appropriate depth of field. Look closer and the lenses actually has moderate characteristics of a fisheye, apprimately 8-15mm focal length in 35mm format.
Not many places to mount camera on eye opening of full face helmet that would not distort horizontal field of view. I imagine camera mounted above nose bridge on helmet opening
Disagree with those averse to long tracks. Most people have an attention span longer than a two minute lap. Longer tracks require more technical skill as the little green line is not there to help you find the apex. I like the open track layouts. As was suggested, Peterson's Isle of Man, Dunrod 1950, or Nordschliefe would be ideal.
First of all, wouldn't it be nice to have the netKar Pro's Blackwood conversion in rFactor? And secondly, NoGripRacing, has an individual who found a way to directly mimic the driving behavior in IRacing for rFactor, before recent update, which pretty closely mimics the driving behavior in LFS. rFactor is fun to drive again, but nothing beats having open track configurations in LFS without the green line. Find the apex and quit cutting corners.
No problem in a field of 30-40 drivers. I'm running a q6700, 865pe with an HD3850 agp card and 2G memory, full detail. Loadup is slower, 25% cpu usage, but smooth as silk thereafter.
Love the the x/y layouts, especially ky33, reminiscent of old F1 tracks. Great flow. Watched an Ascot open layout where FOX was racing down a long straight with mild esses and up the hill then racing down the hill coming to a hard right. I was amazed watching them racing three abreast, the good drivers yielding to those that had the racing line. I also found it amusing that the back 50% in field of 30-40 drivers were crashing on the straightaway. Most crashes occurred because drivers would not yield when they saw a front wheel come into their view. As for the racing line, that's what separates the men from the boys. Learn the course, see the apex.
Now that GP4's version of Spa Francorchamps and subsequent revision by GP4 Kings, Spa 2008, has been determined to be the most accurate for current Formula I teams using rfactor pro, would the LFS crew be required to obtain permission from Microprose and Geoff Crammond to use the trackframe and upgrade with current LFS textures? Everyone wants Nurburgring but I have never seen anyone able to provide accurate laserscanning of the track.
Is it really too much to ask for an F1 track even if it is not a current rendition? Would LFS really be required to obtain licensing from track frames made with GPL's engine?
ATI 3850 agp is the way to go if you do not want to upgrade. I have Frankenstein board, Asrock 775i65g, low-latency 2.0 DDR 400, with Q6700 quad core. Max framerates w/o vsync or frame limiter is approx. 150 with GPU maxed out. Vsync and frame limiter for 60 Hz LCD monitor and GPU lopes along at approx. 60% or less.
What about conversions of the original GP4 tracks? High speed Hockenheim, Spa and Suzuka, especially with the new tire model. Wonder why Microprose never did Nurburgring?
In light of the all the conversions to rFactor of GPL tracks with texture updates, is it reasonable to assume that the LFS designers would not be subject to licensing fees if they provided code/program necessary to create new LFS tracks? I know the argument is that the servers will depopulate but wouldn't the addition of the original 11 tracks with updates from Papyrus be quite reasonable?
Just tried new ati tray tools, ver. 1.6.3.9 beta. Works perfectly. GPU temp, fan function and usage are displayed in the same position when I was using older 1XXX series. Now to reload 9.7 hotfix without CCC.
and I love it. I only installed 9.7 hotfix. Last upgrade for a while considering I'm running quad core 6700 with low latency cas 2.0 DDR 400. I upgraded generic power supply to 650W, 35A, 12V rail. No problems. Maxed for eye candy give 92-93 FPS in all views. Now to figure how to get GPU temp in taskbar and make the fan adjustable with riva tuner. ATI tray tools do not work and CCC does not show fan output.
Recently made piecemeal upgrade from P4 533 2.4 (overclocked 3.2) , ddr 333, 2.5 Gb,ASUS p4p800-e, ATI x1650pro with ASRock 775i65g and 2.66 Kentsfield. Added low latency (cl2) kingston hypermax ddr400, 2Gb and saw unbelievable increase in framerate while driving solo with heavily textured areas. Running at 6xAA, 16xAF and literally increased framerate nearly 100%.
Good idea.........precludes necessity for obtaining licensing. With or without oval is fine. Though classic formula I track, say from GPL, would be awesome. Nurburgring, anyone?
I would be more than willing to share it with all licensed drivers. But, thereafter, I would definitely like to see access to code for construction of additional GP tracks to be determined by consensus vote of all licensed drivers (top five or ten tracks)with GPS and or laser accuracy.
So many outstanding period F1 tracks (GPL through rFactor)........at this point I'm willing to accept any F1 track that does not destroy LFS' cash flow due to its licensing requirements, though with the recent graphical beauty of the Nordschliefe mods from rFactor, I would give it strong consideration.
