I'd want them to release a beta, single player only version so we could see for ourselves what the result of their work is like. Would be more meaningfull than any progress report.
Well my goal is more to get people to at least try the training as it shows some basics to driving fast and well, instead of coming directly online and trying to race a car they can't even control.
If you've tried the training, you know that guetting an OK status is basically as simple as keeping the car between the white lines. Of course server admins would be the ones to choose if they require a license.
The level of some players on public servers is so bad that I would recommend to use the training option in LFS. Now some of the training exercises are flawed so I would just select some of them to be uploaded to lfsworld and have your license graded to OK/FAST/PRO.
This way, admins could weed out the drivers that have no control over their cars and it would put some value and encourage people to complete the training.
On another note I'd like to suggest a way to make AWD cars more competitive. That way would be to change the weight balance further to the back.
For the RB4, that would be a bit less close to reality but it has the most weight on the front wheels of all TBO. I would just add weight to the rear and some HPs, after all the AWD should be most powerful and heaviest of the class.
For the FXR, the base car is the lightest of the 3, so it wouldn't be so much of a stretch to think that the race car would fall under 1100 Kg and that the ballast would be put in the rear for better balance. As it is now the FXR overuses front tires due to weight and additionnal power to the front. Also to compensate that, it needs to get most of its downforce from the front wing which increases the amount of drag for the same of total downforce.
I would just post a target time for each track and you can't be faster than this time. This way faster drivers could add weight/air intake restriction to their own car and still participate, it would also balance the cars in each class. I would just use a system like 1xx% of world record.
I would put a big penalty like 30 sec. after the race for drivers who go faster than target time so you don't have to check every lap and that people don't drive too close from the target time.
Should be easy enough to admin and allow a much bigger pool of drivers.

Not really a new car but I would put racing slicks on STD (xfg, xrg), TBO (fxo,rb4,xrt,*lx4*) and LRF (fz5,lx6,rac). This way we could create 3 new classes or sub-classes for example STDr,TBOr and LRFr. This could offer an alternative to UFB.
Since those cars don't have wings on them I think it would make for some great racing.
I think it has more to do with people not wanting to get stuck behind a slower driver and be able to run their full pace, but yeah testrace was a mess I got hit from all sides ... I think

I would like to see how FXR would handle with a better weight distribution. As of now it needs harder tires in front than in back and more wing in front than back. This results in more drag for the same total downforce. You could also have a better brake balance with more weight at the rear. XRR could also have a bit more weight towards the back. Something like 52/48 would be really good I think and make both cars closer to the FZR.

The lost of power per % seems to be very linear. XRR and FXR have the exact same power curve and lose around 5.3 HP per %. FZR loses around 6.7 HP per %. In game LFS only shows integer or rounded numbers.
Edit : You get those by doing the average test it you'll see a pattern really soon. And yeah less power means more lag.
