I just got my LFS dedicated server up, and a buddy and i were talking about hosting a single event race and im just seeing how many people would be interested in some good clean racing. This will be with FXR, XRR, and FZR. The track has not yet been determined, but we were thinking about something along the lines of a single 60 min race, or two 30 minute races (second race would be reverse order from the results of the first race, and we would average the points between the two races to determine the final results), required pit, and possibly force cockpit view. This would probably be held around 9 or 10pm US central time on a Sunday night. If we can get 10 or more people interested in joining us we'll be doing this within the next 2 or 3 weeks, and if its a hit then maybe do this every weekend. Anyone interested? :horseman:
I never had any problems with hosting a server, but since this new graphics update to Z, i havent been able to get it to work. I re-downloaded the dedicated server file for Z, and the server starts up just fine, but whenever i try to join the server, it says 'Host has different game code'
I have an old Logitech Driving Force wheel (originally designed for PS2) that i use for the pedals on my computer. However, im having a hard time getting to get the computer to recognize the gas and brake and two separate axis' instead of a combined one, so that way i would be able to do heel toe shifting. On my old computer i was able to do this, but i dont remember how i got it to work and i cant figure it out. Anyone know how to set it up like this?
See how the wheel stops counter steering it's self at a certain point? In a real car, if im drifting around a right hand corner and counter steering to the left, the wheel will spin its self really fast to the left, all the way till it hits full lock. It doesnt stop its self at any certain point for u.
I know this can be done in the game because i've seen videos of people drifting where it doesnt hit the bouncy point. When it's hitting the stopping point, u cant do the grab and let go method of counter steering like u do in a real car, which is what i want to teach my brother how to do.
In this video, he doesnt hit that stopping point in the counter steer and is able to do the grab and let go method of counter steering. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpC2HB3HK_U
Im using a Thrustmaster Nascar FFB which is like 5 years old haha.
Im trying to find the video where it shows the really good looking ffb response but im struggling to find it.
As for spending 5k on a real rwd car, ive already done that haha. I have a 240sx i have quite a bit of money invested in, but i dont want to go teaching my 14 year old little brother how to drift in that when he only has about 30 minutes of behind the wheel time with a real car lol. I wouldnt be happy if he smashed it
Im just looking for a mod or something that changes how the ffb feels, like they have for rfactor (which i never tried because i dont own rfactor, but heard its a good mod)
Wondering if there is any way i can get a more realistic feeling force feedback. I do a lot of drifting in this game (and teaching my little brother), and i want to be able to get rid of that bounciness in the FFB when ur countersteering. Ive seen videos of people with a better looking force feedback but i cant figure out how they did it
I never have a problem in rooms ~12 or under but when i get any larger than that i lose connection after a couple minutes. Seems the larger the room im in, the faster my connection is lost. I have a high speed cable internet connection, and i've never had any problems with laggin in servers to my knowledge. So whats the reason i keep getting kicked?
Ok, i didnt read through this whole thread, just the first page or so.... so here it goes...
You do not RACE in drifting. Drifting is a judged sport on a few key things such as style, entry speed, angle, amount of smoke, etc. When u are drifting, u dont try and drive faster than the other person, u try to drive with more style and etc. than the other person. So for those of u who are saying "anyone who decided to drive a regular fast line and not sliding around everywhere would put them to shame" and whatever are wrong. That person would have no style and all of those other factors and would simply lose, whether he finishes first or not, because thats not what drifting is scored on. Its like comparing speed skating vs. figure skating, and saying that the speed skater would win at both sports just because he's faster.... no.
There is no need for this kind of talk. I'd like to see michael schumacher try doing tandem with anyone in D1 Grand Prix and i guarantee he would put to shame, and visa versa. They are two completely different things.
EDIT: Just to be clear... im not bashing on racing. I do both of them and i love both of them
Ok, now i have it to where the miles work, and the laps count (Not accurately, they jump up in numbers somehow) but the voice still doesnt entirely work properly. After about 5-10 minutes of having LFSRelax running, it automatically closes itself and in the corner of the screen where the txt goes it says 'Insim player closed LFSRelax' or something like that, and when i reopen it, it says "Clear", and thats the only time it ever says anything, then after another 5-10 minutes it closes again and the process starts all over..... :arge:
Im having problems with LFS Relax. I have gone through the cfg file about a million times and i believe it is all correct. My Laps dont work, my split behind does not work, mileage doest not work, and voice does not work. Why is this? The only that works is the split times on the left side. I have windows vista business 32bit if thats the problem. Anyone else have these problems before and know how to fix it?
Ok, thanks. I dont know why i had a problem with it before, it must have been my network, so i have it working now.
only problem i have now is that when i try to set which cars i want to allow on the server then start the server, i get a pop up error that says 'Invalid cars option'. This is what i have for the line for my cars. Correct me if i have this in there incorrectly.
Im really confused as to how to set up a dedicated server for LFS just using the console. I remember seeing a write up for it a while back but i just kept running into problems. Right now when i start the console it just says 'Host Name is Already in Use'. Where do i type those things in?
My problem is fixed. I had to go into options, the under FF Devices, select 2. I guess when i installed the gamepad drivers, it set them as the device for the force feedback instead of my wheel. Hope that helps someone else!
I use the Thrustmaster Pro Force Feedback wheel. I just reinstalled my drivers again and i still have the problem. I used to drift in this game all the time but its almost impossible now. I started having problems after i installed drivers for my Logitech gamepad, which doesnt really make any sense to me.
Ive had LFS for a long time, but today when i started up the game and drove, the force feedback on my wheel wasnt working properly. The force always just wanted to center the wheel and nothing else. Anybody else run into this problem?
I was trying to run a dedicated server, but this command line stuff it new to me, and i was trying to figure out how to get the server started, but i got nowhere. I dont even know what a batch file is or how to make/use it. Is there a write up anywhere than can show me how to set up a server? I have all my port forwarding stuff all set up and everything already.
