Quote from NoNder :When i first time played lfs and clicked on show server list it showed me something about packets (i think big packets dialog) but it is not doing now so it is not problem.

Problem is that i can't connect to my favourite server (TC cruise server). Server always simply refuses my connection. So i installed B7 but i still can't connect and server doesn't want my connection. Other servers are ok.

You have a 3 day ban on TC that ends on the 24th.
http://urs.city-driving.co.uk/banlist.php

Anyway, I've just installed the B7 patch and noticed that my FPS has reduced on multiplayer. Same for B6. I used to get 20-40fps (with NightMod, since normal LFS doesn't like my computer) and now I'm getting 13-17. Apart from that, the reduced connect time is a great improvement. Good job.

Edit: Discovered a very resource intensive program decided to hide in the background. Closed it and LFS is running like it used to.

Lots of people look for Logitech spare parts, but there aren't any (or they're hard to find) manufacturers for spare parts. Those people end up buying wheels off of eBay for parts.

Look on eBay, there's probably a broken MOMO on there with the parts you need.

Have the above methods worked? AMD's drivers can be a bit odd. I don't know which, but one of the recent ones are really buggy. Go some web searching and find out which AMD drivers aren't buggy.

Also, a Core i3 (whatever gen) with the 7770 is powerful enough for Windows 7. Perhaps reading the OP might have been useful.

OP: What kind of computer do you currently have?

Here are some computers that I've tested the game with:

My old Pentium Dual-Core E5300 (LGA775) with a GT 240 OC 1GB gave me 60 fps on a packed TC server (30 drivers with a 800 object layout) maxed out, but it couldn't handle recording with FRAPS. This was at a resolution of 1366x768. 4Gb DDR2 667 RAM. Patch 0.6B

The same Pentium as above but with the NVIDIA 7050 integrated graphics, 45 fps max online, patch Z28.

A Pentium 4 2.4GHz(478) machine with a NVIDIA Geforce4 MX420 64mb managed 14fps on lowest settings at 1024x768 on a TC server with about 12 people online, with 800 objects. 256mb DDR 300 RAM. Windows XP SP3. Offline FPS: 30. Patch 0.6B

A Pentium 4 2.8GHz HT (478) machine with an ATi Radeon X1650 Pro 512mb AGP managed 45fps at 1024x768 on a TC server with 15 people and 500 objects. 512mb DDR 333 RAM. Windows XP SP2. Offline FPS: 60. Patch Z28. (PC's hard drive corrupted before 6B came out)

A Core i5-2430m 2.4GHz (TB 3.0, HM67) HT (it's a slow i3-2125) with the Intel HD Graphics 3000 cannot run the game vanilla due to a graphics bug. I can run it with NightMod, however. Cannot start the game with anti-aliasing enabled (starts with endless black screen). Plays on a packed TC server with NightMod, maxed out but no AA at 25-30fps at 1366x768. 6GB DDR3 1333 RAM. Offline: 60-90. Patch 0.6B, nightmod for 0.5Y.
When I open the view tab in the vanilla installation, the game crashes. I get 15fps max for some reason....it's really odd.

Note that the HD Graphics 3000 only supports up to AA x4, versus NVIDIA and AMD supporting x16.

If you want to build a new PC for LFS, then get a Celeron G530, 4GB DDR3 ram, any hard drive/SSD, and any $100 graphics card, though AMD cards like the 6770 support Eyefinity for up to 6 monitors on one card.

The Celeron boasts great single core performance which is really what LFS needs, plus an average graphics card to make the game look extra pretty.

Really a 10 year old pc can run this game...maybe not very well, but it's possible.

**Note: Offline means BL1 with no AI, just racing around lonely.

Well, I reinstalled LFS into a different partition of my hard drive, it worked fine for a day, then I woke up today to play some LFS and it didn't work, nothing works now.

I've done everything I've been asked (except update the bios, which is ridiculous imo) and LFS still doesn't work.

At this point, it works less than it previously did.

Alright, I don't have the time at the moment to download anything, I already installed new graphics drivers, and yes my chipset drivers are out-of-date, I'll need to take care of that later.

My graphics drivers are default, LFS is already set to "start windowed 1", like it always is and my BIOS should be default, this computer is new, I haven't had a chance to screw it up yet. :P

Intel Core i5-2430m (2.4GHz HT, 3.0turbo)
6GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
640GB 5400RPM HDD
HD Graphics 3000 (when I play LFS I usually run a second screen, 2x1366x768, max settings, AAx4)

That should be all of the specs you need.

Well, you should see if your controller's drivers support an individual axis for each trigger, and if they do, then follow bishtop's instructions.

I played with a 3rd party xbox 360 controller for a while before I got my G27 and it only supported a combined axis, which annoyed me but I had to deal with it. :\

Quote from cargame.nl :*watched the video*

Why starting LFS while running on 10% accu power, Firefox AND Chrome open, multiple times with god knows what (Flash?) and then even more programs I don't recognize the icon of..

It's beyond me. I really don't get it.

In the end it's probably the GPU driver. If anything is inside that box which deserves the name GPU. Noticed 'Samsung' somewhere, thats scary.

Haha...There's literally no difference in performance with and without those programs running, believe me I've tested it.

I updated the out-of-date GMA driver (Intel isn't worthy of GPUness) and now I cannot start a race in single player with LFS, and I still have the other issues.

And sarxes, I've already reinstalled it several times as I previously stated. It does not work.

I find it interesting how fast news spreads, heard about this a few hours ago on Yahoo (like 2 hours after she died) and here we are.

Anyway, I don't see why so many people are ODing lately. :\

I still can't get over Amy Winehouse.

Hello everyone.

I've been having an issue with LFS since I first installed it on my new pc a month ago: It doesn't start after the initial start once you install it. What I mean is, when I start LFS.exe, it starts up, blank. Nothing visually loads.

I've reinstalled LFS and unlocked several times.

This is from Dec 25, when I began having the issues.

I posted on another forum about this, so here's how far I've gotten:

Quote from chucknorris :The log looks fine. It seems like is started normally, but simply doesn't show a thing.
I would try these things one by one:
1. Toggle fullscreen when it's supposed to be running (shift+f4)
2. Move the card_cfg.txt out of the lfs folder and then try to start it.
3. Move the cfg.txt out of the lfs folder and then try to start it.

Quote from pfpdoodlez2009 :It works when I remove the cfg.txt, however it will return to it black state when I restart it.

So far I've had it working by opening one specific replay and then it works normally. However, this means I can't use some external programs like Steam. (ohnoesendoftheworldjk)

Also, another issue that I've had was when I would view a MPR, skip ahead a little bit, click on another user (to view that car) and then change view (pressing v) LFS would fade white and get the Windows 7 "LFS.exe has stopped working properly" and the only option would be to close it.

Hopefully I've explained this clear enough, if I need to explain further, I'm able to.

Thanks in advance.

Hm, congrats. Of course there will be some ergonomic issues, I used a high-back cushioned dining chair from which I received daily back pains from.

That was actually the most painful thing about LFS, the wheel.

Since you're using dollars I'll assume USD, which S2 is around $38, or at least that much when I had received it.

OP: I don't believe in buying S2 the first month of playing, demo is pretty good actually. If you save up for a few months it's affordable, or if you're under your parents' care you can ask them to buy it.

It's unlikely that you will receive a license without working for it, anywhere.

Quote from BullHorn :Nope, those wheels are not popular enough to have a market on eBay.

Anyway, who would sell such a great piece of hardware? Let me know, I'll buy it if shipping is under $200US for both the wheel and pedals. :P

Hm, in the USA eBay I saw a handful of GT3RSV2's and a bunch of Carrera, and a turbo s on there. :P

Anyway, I'm sure there would be somebody in the community (*cough*^) who may be able to help you out.

Once again, if nothing works out I'd like to emphasize that the G27 is not a bad wheel. No reason to cry, it's what people prefer.

I'm naturally on the fence about my G27 still. (nobody wants it. :[ / Actually the previous comment was my fault. :S)

Haha nice.

This thread is making me want to sell my wheel again, I can actually have it sold by tomorrow. Lol

I'm looking at the new CSR wheel with standard pedals and shifter and upgrade later on, and then buy Forza 4 with it, haven't actually bought a new forza since the original, I still play it too. Lol.

Anyway, good luck on your purchase.

The chat was on your server quite a while ago, I was asking your opinion on CPU's.

Anyway, I was talking about the standard shifter, I've been stalking Thomas's blog since August. :P I've been waiting for the CSR stuff to come out. :P
My comments on your comments aren't in order...just a warning.
I couldn't judge the customer support because I haven't experienced it.

I'm pretty sure I said that, oh nevermind, I actually forgot that. Everybody has a different opinion. I found Logitech's quality rather cheap, my opinion of course.

I was actually selling my replacement g27, chose to keep it and plan to mod it.

Like I said, some people prefer one wheel, someone else would prefer the other.

The pedals, I was referencing the pedals currently released, the new Fanatec pedals aren't included because they technically aren't released yet, only pre-orders. Either way, there aren't many good pedals out there, clubsports, TSWs, act-labs and Logitech G-series pedals are among the best, of course you couldn't return to the Logitech pedals, the clubsports are amazing!
(after I buy my laptop and fix the desktop that's next on my list!)

I'm not comparing the GT2 to the Logitech because it's $200 more if you want clubsport edition. The CSR wheel is the same price as the GT2.
The GT3 is more of an equal comparison anyway.
The Carrera is really the closest to the G27, and much cheaper too.

Going back to the pedals, I totally forgot about Thrustmaster. :S The names just screams pornstar.

About the sound, the GT3 RS V1 vs the G27 in audio comparison seem about equal, not sure about the V2.
It's surely smoother though. :3

Something that I liked about the Fanatecs is drift mode. The downside of the G27 is that I find myself turning the wheel for it, which sucks because I rely on response when I drift.
