Quote from der butz :...

3rd: Since the screen is made of security glass it might just break even more and fall into millions of pieces at 75 miles during the night in heavy rain.... you get the picture :-) I never saw something like this happen, but it CAN.
Edit: I have seen it... a friend had a very small chip in the rear window of his polo. He was driving along as suddenly he heard a noise and had a hole the size of a fist in the window. Rest was crackling apart.
...

Windshields are made of laminated glass so they don't break into millions of pieces when damaged. Usually all the other windows on a car are made of simple tempered glass so they shatter easily.

At least he announced the patch release date exclusively on the server.

Can I guess? When it's done?

Then it has a limited future.

I see a solution to solve the ban problem but the community / general interest is way to low to set something up.

Lolz, there are LFS'ers demo'ing three years now because they won't or can't pay those 24 pounds.

And its not about the 20 Euro's.. It's what you get in comparison to LFS.

Yeah, LFS is a more complete package(for more money), but it's not superior in everything. I really like it but right now there are areas where other sims are better. LFS' tyre physics has hardly changed over the last 4 years, there were some tweaks but that's all.
I had too many problems with previous version of NK Pro but the latest version runs great on my pretty slow computer and it has great physics and FFB too and that's important for me.
I don't know how much time you spent playing LFS but after a few years the little things will start to bother you more and more and you'll look at other sims too.

I quite like the new version but I don't have space on my desk to use my wheel. How can I turn off traction control if I'm using keyboard and mouse to drive?

This time it's closer to the max speed. But but the distance is more like 80-90 miles.

Quote from skstibi :First choice would be FZR. Second would be FZ5.

I personally think my 944 drives better than the XRT. I am going to get a 944 turbo but that would put the XRT to shame by far

LX6 would have been on my list but all I have to do is buy a Westfield and build myself one special 194CI chevy inline 6. (Add a small turbo and some semi-slicks?) Hell, how about slap a small v8 in there?

No way

I always loved the XRT, that's why I bought a Starion
If I win the lottery I'll buy a widebody Starion, an RX7 and a 3000 GT interior and I'll combine these to build a real life XRT

He has some problems with engine braking and according to him it's too easy to stall the cars when you attempt to set off without throttle.

Quote from blackbird04217 :Woooh!! Whooo! (Yes, I am every bit excited!) AMAZING!! Whoo!

Proof attached to this post!

I have successfully driven my AI to a target! Okay, when you watch the replay you will likely die of laughter, as I came close to on the first time I saw the behavior the other day... However - the AI driver successfully hits the blue cone; which is where I set him to go! Now, to fix some behavioral issues! ENJOY!

EDIT: Ignore the 30sec penalty. That is _my_ fault as the AI is dependent on me to tell it when the lights turn green. LFS has no accurate way to detect the light change so I substituted an input key for the time.

I would try to get a pixel's color from the location of the virtual start light's green part, that way the AI could "see" when it changes to green.

Quote from matijapkc :I don't hear mine even if it's under full stress. You can't hear HDD. You can only hear CPU or some of the fans.

I can show you some older HDD's which sound like a coffee grinder when in use and that's when they are in good condition...

To OP: I would try to reset the Winsock settings, it may help: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

Edit: didn't see it works now, but anyway this program can come in handy later

Quote from bunder9999 :why just the brakes? the clutch could use some FFB too, then we can really feel where the bite point is.

Hmm, I don't think I've ever really felt the bite point of the clutch on the pedal in my car. I feel the change in acceleration and that gives me the bite point quite accurately but I don't feel that on the clutch pedal.
However FFB would be good to simulate clutch malfunction.

Scawen explained the reasoning behind this some time ago(at the end of the post):

Mitsubishi Starions, as you can guess from my avatar.
I don't know exactly when I got addicted to them but I'm sure XRG and XRT in LFS was the cause .
I have two narrowbody Starions ATM(one is for parts only), but someday hopefully I'll have a widebody too.
Mine:

Quote from KiRmelius :+1 to this suggestion. I don't know much about cars, but when i first time driven a car with turbo, i was surprised how much it differs from turbo cars in LFS. Turbo lag is much bigger IRL. Building up boost is not as easy as in LFS. Even though it was a diesel, difference is still very easy to spot.

You've driven one car with turbo and you think you know how all turbo cars behave?
I have two Starions, one with the first generation TC06 turbo which is bigger, and one with the newer and smaller turbo. The older car builds up boost later but can hold it better in the higher RPM range. The smaller turbo comes on sooner but it's not as effective at higher RPM and feels more responsive.
These two cars are almost identical, but they behave quite differently just because they don't have the same turbocharger.
Of course I'm not saying LFS' turbo modelling is totally accurate but most of the people here(including me) don't have enough knowledge and experience to comment on this because it's a very complicated subject.

Quote from Ger Roady :In this manner you can't find anything analog in a computer system because you can always go down to 0 and 1.

Exactly, analog is only an illusion. With very little steps it is close to analog but it isn't analog.

Quote from JeffR :Just wondering if most players would be willing to accept the new tire physics without the hot and flat spot segmented tires, if it meant that the new tire physics could be released sooner.

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :Ooooo. I remember this thread!

Well, thanks to this lovely, cold, snowy, icy weather we are having in the UK right now, i have a new pet hate.

Hit and Run drivers! Twice, yes, TWICE i have had my car hit now. The first one was fairly light, and put a small crack in the bumper which didn't bother me at first as I'm getting it painted after winter, but my poor car has got a fair old smack some point last night, and has put a 10 inch dent in the rear wing.

Don't get me wrong, the dent is easily repairable and the car does not require a new rear wing, but the dent will still put on a hour or so worth of labour when i do get it painted, which will end up costing ME money, and not the ****er who hit it. It would of been nice if there was a note on my windscreen saying "Sorry.", but no. They just smack my car and run!

****ERS.

Same here... my car standing outside for 3 days now because I have to store the parts car in my garage. Some idiot smashed the driver's side door pretty hard. No notes, no sorry, nothing.
I had to take the door off my parts car then strip the dented door and take it off. After that I had to install the other door and adjust it, so I could at least close it. It's great fun in -4 Celsius outside in snow. I have to change the lock and paint the whole door when I have time.

Quote from Electric Eye :Yeah I wasn't saying that they weren't gonna improve it... just stated what it was like the last time I played it. Even on lowest graphics it wasn't smooth.

I could run it on lowest settings and my PC is 4 years old now and it wasn't the fastest when I bought it. It's just luck I guess.

Quote from Electric Eye :I remember trying that game a while ago... Wouldn't say that my computer is sh!t... but it just didn't seem like the game engine was using CPU efficiently? :S

It is in a very early stage, it will be optimized and refined in all aspects but not even the developers know when this will be. They don't have enough money to just leave everything and work on this fulltime.

The development team is now making Iphone games to support the future development of Pannonia Rally, the latest version is 1.11 (IIRC more than 6 month old) you can download it from here. The full game won't be free but in the current state they don't want to charge money for it.

It should be 80/25, but for some odd reason on this machine I can't get max speed on Speedtest but it works fine with torrents. It costs about £15 month.
