I can say that Momo black pedals work with the G25 wheel. You have to invert one of the pedal axis though in software. So I'd guess that it also works the other way around then...

edit: however, I strongly doubt that the clutch pedal will work then

Sounds interesting. I wonder how track-side objects look in 3D, that are not modelled voluminous, but that are just flat structures with a texture on it (for performance reasons). I think trees and spectators are often realized that way. Doesn't this look pretty strange, if you have a real 3D look at it? And did you run your setup also with other racing games than LFS?

edit: and one more question: Isn't it extremely tricky to align those two projectors? I guess the two projected images have to match exactly to avoid nasty artefacts.

Quote from Jakg :...then have you tried ATi Tray Tools? it worked GREAT for me back on my old 9600XT!

No, maybe I should give it a try. But after all it would still be more comfortable to do just two clicks in the video settings of LFS...

I dont like it because it does not work properly for all sort of games and configurations. Same thing with the Wingman profiler for setting up Logitech wheels. For example I do not get it working as intended when playing RBR via RBRnet. I do not remember what game exactly was the problem with the ATI profiles, but there also was some...

By the way: Is there some technical reason, why AA/AF cannot be set from within the game? It's actually a bit annoying to do that in the display properties all the time (and yes, I know that you can create profiles with catalyst, but I dont want to)

Yeah, they seem to have a template for that question already. The response I got spelled almost exactly the same

But actually this is good news. If a lot of people ask for this, they hopefully will offer a solution soon...

Quote from tristancliffe :[...] I am using the Logitech pedals for the additional clutch even if the other two pedals aren't as nice.

Indeed those pedals are not nice at all. I think Logitech made even a step backwards with the brake pedal. Even though the pedals got more robust compared to the Momo black ones, they removed the second spring from the brake pedal, which at least gave a descrete pressure sensitivity at one point. Of course this is nothing compared to the smooth PBM of the ECCI... but well, was better than making it behave just the same as clutch and throttle.
ECCI pedals (Momo black) connected to G25

Hi guys, just in case anyone is interested and it hasn't been reported before already: The ECCI pedals with connector for the black Momo work also when connected to the G25 wheel. Only slight modifications to the connector are required: You have to unscrew that cable support thing at the bottom of the wheel and pull off the screws from the connector itself, otherwise it won't fit in. However, all this can be easily redone in case of warranty claim is required. Then the break axis has to be inverted in software and that's it.

Note, that I do have a 2-pedal version only, so I don't know if a clutch pedal would work as well.

A very annoying thing with LCD TVs in general is, that almost all of them have problems with supporting the whole range of common PC video modes. Some of them can not even handle their native resolution, so you would have to use a lower resolution which is upscaled then. Normally the list of compatible modes is not listed in the customer specs, so I would explicitly ask for this before buying one (or better you find the model somewhere tested in a computer magazine).

At least this thread got somewhat entertaining finally. The initial subject was a bit of a yawn anyway...

Becky, I think all of us have met idiots on track douzens of times, too. Don't you think that you encourage those people by your I'm-a-girl-and-feel-discriminated-threads to find it even more funny to bother especially you? Sorry, but I've the feeling that you actually like this role and to discuss it again and again...

(I didn't read the whole thread but the first post only, sorry if something similar has been mentioned before already)

Quote from Doso :does it support different monitors?

As long as the monitors support the selectable modes, yes. Those are

640x480@60Hz
800x600@60Hz
1024x768@75Hz
1280x1024@60Hz

Obviously it's preferable to use LCDs due to the vertical refresh rate limitation...
LFS on Matrox TripleHead - Field Report

Hi all,

I thought I would share my experience with the Matrox TripleHead2Go box, which I received last Friday finally. Focus is not about screenshots and stuff, because I think this is nothing new and has been done by those (few) Parphelia users already, but more about frame rate issues.

I tested the box with RT, GPL, RBR, GTR, LFS, GTL, rF and nKP. Ahead of all others LFS is really brilliant at support for those ultra wide screen modes. It was the only sim, that considers the aspect ratio also for menus and overlays. Different from that in GTR, GTL, rF and nKP those elements suffer from horizontal deformation as they simply scale to the wide screen resolution. The correct 3D rendering, however, was supported by all of them, too. For RBR one need a camera hack utility to get the aspect ratio adjusted, which finally worked as well. For RT and GPL I didn't get it working properly.

The annoying thing about all this triple stuff really is, that ATI cards do not support them in 3D. Unfortunately I've got still an AGP system (P4 3GHz) and to my experience here especially with LFS is, that comparable Nvidia cards are signficantly slower than ATI ones. This is most significant when a lot of opponent cars appear in front. To give you some numbers (benchmark is 3 mins of a multiplayer replay of a UF1 race SO classic, cockpit view with lots of traffic around):

ATI Radeon x800, 1600x1200, AA/AF max: 38/50 (min/average)
NVidia Gainward Golden Sample 7800 GS, AA/AF off (!): 25/33

That Gainward card is praised as the fastest (and most expensive) thing you can get for AGP. Well, it worked quite well for those Dx9 focused 3D benchmarks but I was very disappointed about the poor performance with my favourite sims, so that is why I sent it back before I even got the Matrox box and used an old NVidia Fx 5200 instead for benchmarking:

2400x600, AA/AF off: 29/42
3840x1280, AA/AF off: 11/20

So in SVGA resolution LFS was playable quite well. For all other sims, however, the fps completely sucked, not worth to take any measurements there.

Definitely it's a great experience to race in front of a triple monitor setup, it felt like in cinema in front of a big screen. However, for me the step back in quality and performance was too large so I put the box back into the box and my triple monitor project on hold until I'll upgrade to a more powerful PCIe system in future.

Meanwhile I would be curious about results on faster configs than mine...

Quote from BWX232 :Cool... post some screenshots when you get it set up!

I will do so! Hopefully I'll get it working with RBR also, which is not in the list of supported games though. I remember, however, I once saw a video of RBR running on a triple monitor setup...

Hmmm... when I was there, the warm-up time was a lot longer than 2-3 minutes and - äh - wasn't it a 6 lap race finally? Anyway, the period between two 4-racers sessions was 45 minutes, that's why I've actually quit before I got a cockpit place, subscription list was too long...

Quote from Frankmd :... but the reason why you dont see the tyregraphics behave as on tv is because the framerate on a tv is fixed at a low framerate. In lfs the framerate fluctuates, and is also at a very high value ...

No, don't think this has something to do with the frame rate. The difference is, that a rendered frame represents an instant in time while a TV frame represents a period in time due to the exposure time of the camera. So if you snapshot a single frame on TV of a fast spinning tire it does look blured, not so for a computer game. This is also why TV always looks smooth even with 25fps only, while computer games need a lot more for fast movements...

Even when driving 300 km/h one can still catch the letters of the manufacturer on the tires. This feels pretty strange. Maybe some blurry texture could be used instead...

What about open roof setups? Don't think it has an effect on aero, but at least it could be precalculated (if there is any significant difference at all)...
