Quote from Scawen :Can anyone else download that file? It works fine on my computer. It is a temporary download location, until the usual system becomes available.

Otherwise, can you try the in-game download? Click List of Hosts in LFS.

On Google Chrome clicking the link opens a tab that closes immediately, same thing goes with opening the link in a new tab, opening the link in a new window opens an empty page. Pressing "Save Link As" does work however.

€: The new link works without any ill effect.

There is an update to the 0.5F patch that enables you to drive the LX8 (thread here), but Scawen has mentioned that the car itself won't be included in any future LFS updates.
Quote from Scawen :It's a really old, unsupported version of Live for Speed
It was never ready for public use
The LX8 GTR is really not a good car to drive Ya right
It will not be developed or included in future versions

Quote from Kahn62 :Try Bootcamp. Lets you install windows on a Mac, with a dual boot menu, and EVERYTHING we tried ran well when we used to use a Mac. That was a long time ago, lol.

It's highly doubtful that bootcamp will make a debut for the M1-powered Macs, considering the fact that Micro$oft decided to not publish an ARM-compatible version of Windows to the public.

Quote from Snoop.DriftEra :Master server is down. DDOS again?

The master server itself isn't down, but the mod hosting system is definitely borked a bit. Mods that are uploaded/updated today can't be driven because of the "Your vehicle is not known to this host" message. It may be a global thing, but I've only tested it on "Just A Ride" so far
Occasional long black screen during startup

Every so often when I try to launch LFS I get a black screen for about 40-50 seconds before it throws the "> LOCAL : TIMER BOUNDED" error and finally shows the main menu. It usually goes away after a PC reboot. Could it be a problem with the hardware I have or does the fault lie somewhere else?

I've followed the steps outlined in the OP and the smoke does indeed show up along with a second of garbled audio before the game slows to a crawl. With the sound clipping prevention feature ENABLED the glitched state may be a bit hit-or-miss to reproduce, though. (On the first attempt at reproduction it didn't go wrong, so in order to glitch the game out I opened the engine sounds menu on the second attempt with SHIFT+A as it overrides the sound clipping option and disables it.)

That actually begs the question: when will the LFS Car Editor be open to being translated into other languages?

Quote from Scawen :I know people like that feature so I'm wondering if it could be reinstated at some point, actually I mean rewritten without the whole meeting room aspect of it (that was rarely used). I wonder what the most important things are, is it just to know which people are on a server? Or is the race progression important? Actually listing the mods people are using wouldn't be easy.

As a non-racer I never gave much thought to the lap count aspect of it, but I'm certain it was very useful for some people. I mostly used it to see who was on a given server.

As far as the aspect of 'listing mods in use' is concerned, I think a good idea would be to put a placeholder MOD shorthand name along with a notice to the user that they should join the server if they want to see the exact mods that the people in it are using.

Out of curiosity, what was the motivation behind the removal of the 'question mark'/meeting room feature and could it be related to the switch to rental-only hosting?

Quote from xpablousky :Hi! I have a question that i think it has been answered already but, where is the option of enable/disable autoclutch?. on last version it was on driver config. Thank you very much for the update!

It should be available in the same spot as before. (at least it was there when I tried to see if it was still there with an H-pattern gearbox car on the track)

Quote from Victor :Can some of you guys please try the new SSO (Single Sign On) login function on the English manual?

https://en.lfsmanual.net/

It currently only works on the English wiki. If this seems good I'll make it work for all languages.

Once I've done that I can add a page about the Oauth2 SSO feature and mini LFS API I've created for this. Then anyone can implement SSO on their site or app for LFS users Smile

Pressed "login with your lfs account" on the wiki. Got redirected to a page explaining that LFS Manual is requesting permission for certain things. After clicking the blue button I got redirected to the LFS Manual logged in with my LFS username.
