Thanks for the comments.

The tracks are originally done for the MRT. The UF1, XFG, UFR and XFR may fit well tho.

You can use any car you want, but the track may be a bit too tight for some cars.

Hey guys!

Here are the layouts I have done for the LOTA MRT CC Cup Summer 2007 Season. Feel free to use them as you wish. Have fun!

Quote from XCNuse :The first two have both been suggested before.

Oops... sorry...

Quote from XCNuse :... so for #3 to work, #1 would have to be done first

I agree. But #2 would be important also because a bigger autocross area means more objects to create tracks. Longueur walls would be needed to be able to make long straights without using too much objects.

Curbs is not absolutely necessary... just better than walls...

Autocross Arena Improvements

Hi,

This summer, I did, with Lee Baker, at League Of The Americas, the MRT CC Cup. It was a custom track series. I was creating a custom track on the autocross layout and the track was released 30 minutes before the race so drivers could not practice for hours. That concept was very interesting because it allowed drivers who do not have a lot of time to practice to still have a chance to run up front.

Next year, I had the idea of creating the same kind of series, but some improvements would be needed to make it really interesting.

1st) A bigger Autocross area (already been suggested)

2nd) Different objects like various curbs and longueur walls to be able to make interesting/bigger tracks within the 512 objects limit.

3rd) The possibility to have more than 16 drivers on track.

Thanks

Well I took a look at the replay of the race Banshee, and PMD9409 is right. It is 16. But still, is it the same thing with patch X?

Hey guys!

Thanks for the comments.

The final layout is available here: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=464962#post464962

It is the test layout we used to ... test things out. So this layout is public. But all the layouts we are going to use for the LOTA MRT C3 Cup this summer wont be available untill race night.

BTW, There are many differences between the final layout and the one I used to make the video. But the track is about the same.

Have fun!

Layout objects adjust

Hi guys

I plan to start a Karting on Autocross Layout style league with the MRT. I am very happy to be able to do such a league with LFS. Thanks!

However, I saw that when someone touch an object, it disapears after a few seconds and reappear in its original position after a while, when nobody are near that place.

It would be very cool to have an option so the object doesnt disapears and stay on the track even if it has been touch by a driver - and/or - the object position is flexible but stay on its original position - and/or - the object doesnt disapears untill it is far up to a certain point from its original position - and/or - to be able to adjust the time in wich the object disapears - and/or - the distance people needs to be far from its original position to come back.

Thanks

Awesome job! Very usefull! Thanks a lot!

May I give a couple of suggestions?
1) It would be very usefull to add a tool to create perfect round. It is very difficult to create prefect and constant curve with bezier.
2) It would be very usefull to be able to lock on 0-45-90 degree with (for examble) ctrl key (as it is in Illustrator).
3) It would be very usefull to be able to import AI file from illustrator, and/or EPS vector file and/or jpg file (for reference).

Becky Rose, the checkpoint system works, the problem is not there.

When I am racing, I have my 1st split time, my 2nd split time, my 3rd split time and my total time when I cross the start/finish line.

What I dont have is the standing and the gap with the front and back guys during the race. I only have it at the end of the race.

You are right. I remember everbody (except me) had an Alphano when I was racing karts.

Anyway, it doesnt help me with my "problem" with my LFS-Karting concept...

1) That's what I tough. Thanks.
2) I have tried with 3 checkpoints and it still doesnt work.

I know there already is a Karting league, I took a look at it. But I wanted to make a league in my country (Canada). Also, my idea is to have a new custom track on each event so nobody know the track and nobody can practice before the event.

I made a test last thursday and everybody enjoyed it, especially the fact that nobody needs to make a lot of practice to be competitive.

The only thing that bugs people is that they dont know everyone's best lap during practice. Even worst: they dont know in wich position they are during the race and the gap with the front and back guys. But, in a real karting event, its the same thing isnt it?

1) What you have explained in a different thread is probably that I have to make a practice session and note the times manually. Is it the only solution? If yes, is there an "easy" way to place drivers manually on the starting grid?

2) What I mean is that, usually (on a "normal track") I can see the standing live in the top-right of the screen during the race. I also have the gap betweel the front guys and the guys behind me and my current position. But on a layout, I have nothing. All I have is the final result when the race is over. I currently have 1 checkpoint, maybe I have to make 3? I will test that tonight.

3 and 4) Thanks.

Question - Karting race in Autocross Layout
Le Kid

Hi,

Im planning to organise a Karting league (with the MRT5) on tracks edited on the autocross arena.

Tonight I did my first test with about 10 drivers and everything went fine. But I have a few questions about a couple of minor problems.

1) Is there a way to have a qualifying session?

2) During the race, I dont know in wich position I am, I dont know the standing, I dont know the gap between me and my competitors. Is there a way to have those informations during the race?

3) When a tire is bumped, it disapears and come back to its original position when the track is free. Is there a way to change how far drivers have to be from the tire so it can get back? My problem is that, at mid-race, drivers are everywhere on the track and the tire never have a clean track to come back.

4) Is there a way to "lock" a layout so nobody can save it and practice on it?

If the answer is "no" to every questions, I suppose those would be very good suggestions for a future patch.

Thanks!

Qualifying in a autocross layout?

I just have finished my first karting-style layout.

Everything works well but I cannot make a qualifying session. Is it possible to have one?

Thanks.

With the F08, on my side, I realised that R3s to optimum temperature are quicker than overheating R2s. That was not the case before the patch. So Im quite happy with that.

Here's a great website. Its in french and in english, but the english version is just a cheap translation from the french version as the author doesnt have time to translate it correctly. But its quite understandable I guess.

I think its just a matter of tire pressure.

A good qualifying setup has very low tire pressure and a higher camber (to compensate because the tire will distort much more). This way, the tire has a lot of grip and the car is very fast (and smooth) in the corners. But the tire will heat (and overheat) very quickly so its good just for one lap or two.

A race setup has more tire pressure and the tire will take a few laps to heat... and to overheat a bit for many laps. Then, as the tire wear, his temperature is getting lower and lower. As the tire seems to have as much grip as a new tire and it doesnt overheat anymore, your time is getting lower.

Also, theorically, a weared tire is smaller than a new tire so you have more power, but Im not sure that the sim take that for a count.

Sorry for my bad english.

"Two cars" view in replays
Le Kid

It would be very cool to have an option that command the camera to focus on two cars (or more) at the same time instead of one. So it would be much more interesting to watch a battle between two cars.

Its the first time Im giving a suggestion here but I made a search and Im pretty sure its the first time this idea is proposed.

Sorry for my bad english
