My thoughts on this;
Airio improves the standard of racing and is welcome in my book.
iRacing is too stuffy for me, I just want a place to chat and race with my friends all day.
Friends aren't online often anymore because they're bored with the same old stuff.
I certainly got my money's worth out of LFS though. Thanks to the devs!
Yes, I really had to stand my ground with them as they switched me to the "cancellation department" so an expert persuader could try his luck. I got the code though so I can just forget about them, I guess.
I have the same problem as you guys. due to plusnet's system, my server list shows around half the servers with normal pings and the other half (the servers i want to actually use) with pings of 3000+
It's infuriating, my friends are there but I can't race with them.
I've been with plusnet for 6+ years. This officially sucks. I don't want to fanny about with wireshark captures or tracking down vague numbers from every server, i just want it fixed, because I pay so much for a freakin premier package that isn't premier.
edit: switching ISP now. It's tricky to get a migration code out of them. You can be as polite as pie and they still sounded downright offended at such a request. They're simply not the same ISP that I signed up to.
OK Here's some suggestions for the shop fronts if you haven't worked them out already
Hartleys - Halfords
J. Wesson - WHSmith
T-Fone - T Mobile or Vodafone
SC Pharmacy could be anything so I guess I would suggest Boots.
Car Park could be and OCP Car Park
Health Foods is Holland & Barrett
Been with plusnet ADSL for about 5 years or so now, their customer service used to be pretty much the best but they seem to be slipping in terms of customer satisfaction in the past couple of years. In racing, there's the occasional day where I get high pings but it doesn't happen too often (just when it matters) :splando:
You can't really use Emule etc. cos they hate that network, but torrents are fine, youtube is fine, oh, and they have a great service status page, and lots of decent tools on their site.
I'm a big sweary annoyed man who tries to help out the noobs, but ultimately gets crashed into. I DO want to see more racers in LFS, but without some sort of ranking system like in Papyrus N2003 it'll be pretty much carnage. Papy did a good job of dividing up all the crazy rednecks with that system. As it is now, there isnt enough racers online at any one time to justify spending time and effort on a ranking system.
Exclusive? Only if you can't be bothered to learn anything.
Real cars and tracks hold a lot of sway with idiots.
I would like to add that some people I've chatted with in IRC see the lack of .00x's as an excuse to call LFS "not a proper simulation". I disagree with this but it's something to think about.
