Exactly as the thread title says really - what do you lot think is the best PC NASCAR Sim? I love my LFS but fancy some NASCAR oval action from time to time as well - so which one offers the best online play / damage models / game feel?
Can I join in? Surely team colours should be the same as the original Blitz! banger team the likes that Shane Brown used to race under (Yellow/Purple)???
Just a thought.....Unless anyone fancies racing in white with red spots lol?
Anyone got a copy of the original BLITZ! banger mag? How about lifting the logo from the cover and putting it into the skin? Examples are on that well known auction site.........
I'm a rallycross startline marshal - nothing beats a full grid (in the past anyway) of GrpB machinery waiting to launch when you're stood 15ft away. Makes your soul vibrate.......
Okay thanks chaps - I've contacted the Devs to pre-empt doing a fresh install - but I'm pretty certain I can remember the password now.
Sturje - if you go online at 10.30pm GMT - how many games do you see roughly - and how many have people racing?
As I said - I average 450 odd games open - but the number with anyone actually in them I reckon I could count on my hands. How would a fresh install change this?
Apologies for all the questions - I'm no techno-head.
Now don't flame me if this is the dumbest question on here in ages.......
When I go online in the UK, normally late evening (10.30pm GMT or so), there are very few servers with anyone in. Normally 1 or 2 Redline Racing, ConeDodgers (in the last few days) and one or two intermittent games running with 2 or 3 people racing. This is normally out of 450+ possible servers running.
Now is it just down to the time of day I can get on to race that I see so few races to join? Or do I need to download the latest patch to be compatable and hence see more games and more variation in what is being raced and where?
Don't get me wrong - I enjoy racing the FOX on AS Club and BL, but I was hoping to get some variation in my racing. It's just that when I go online there's very few options to race against.
Does anyone else find this? It's a bit disheartening to see row after row of 0/23 in my race listing........
The Logitech Wingman Rumblepad is available on a certain well know auction site new for about £9. Twin analogue sticks, a slide control for throttle if you fancy it, triggers for gear change and enough buttons for handbrake, clutch, horn etc to keep anyone happy.
I use a Logitech Wingman Rumblepad. Did have a MS non-FF wheel but it was poo, and it kept de-centralising.
Now I use the joypad as having raced RC cars for 25 years it's what comes natural to me. I may get a wheel when funds allow just to get the full feeling from LFS, but for now I'm happy with what I've got (even if it's pretty twitchy to drive with).
No-one online ever seems to admit driving with a joypad. Am I the only one?
I've been known as Hog for years. Every forum I go onto I'm known as Hog of one form or another. I only added the 700 as it's my full size race number! It wouldn't let me have just "Hog" so I wonder who's using that?
Just retired my MS Sidewinder (non FFB) in favour of a joypad - at least until I can afford a FFB wheel. Main problem with the MS wheel was that it would constantly lose steering centre during a race.
Playing LFS has improved my R/C racing considerably - mainly I guess because I have my joypad configured the same way as my R/C transmitter.
But as for real life - no. It's a simulator. It simulates real life. Unless you immerse yourself in a total sensory environment driven by the game engine then you are never going to get all the sensory input required for your brain to be able to apply what you learn the next time you hit the REAL tarmac.
How often do you race IRL with a wooden dashboard and a mug of coffee ?
PS - What it does do really well IMO is to teach what adjustments to make to a race car to rectify handling traits......
