ok after a quick test with XFG @ BL2, clutch is a lot better, i only had time to do ten laps as i had to go out

with lifting on gearchange, (not for the jumps) the clutch was a little hot, but not to bad.

i need to mess with setup, as my gears ratio's will have to be reworked for new physics!

any way, a big thank you scawen for sorting that out for us, and enjoy your xmas break

i'll report back on my enduro testing after i've had time to sort out my setup

Good,
so now WE have established that the XFG clutch is faulty, can we please get the damn thing fixed, lol

some people actually like to do more than 4 laps in bl2.....................................

Quote from Bladerunner :Just put this to the test...a race at BL2 with me vs 9 * AI's.. I tried with a G25 using MANUAL clutch and H- Shifter...(as far as I know, the AI WEREN'T using G25's )
Most of the AI's got around OK..EXCEPT for some who pitted ...(for no apparent reason!)
Something obviously went wrong in the pits, because on exiting most of them had red clutch bars.
I myself went 'red' after about 4 laps..even with MANUAL CLUTCH..and being GENTLE!!!!! I had to really nurse the clutch to get it back to orange...
Attached is a link to a replay (too big to attach...3MB ), and below is a plea to Scawen...

http://www.tenball.co.uk/downloads/replay.zip

Please have a look Scawen, and see if you can improve it a bit...please???

perfect example of what the problem is!

to make the cluch last on XFG @ BL2 you can only drive laps that are 5 to 6 seconds off RACING PACE!

try and drive any faster and it's bye bye clutch.

you may as well tow a trailer behind you full of models advertising Kitten Gloves or something, because thats all xfg is good for right now

and here i was thinking lfs is a racing sim

Quote from JTbo :I would say that on gravel there are problems, on tarmac not so much.

XFG on gravel indeed requires quite overcautious driving, it is when car lightens at bumps and then as rpms have gone high and car comes down where clutch starts to slip, so when you drive you need constantly baby the clutch.

I set AI cars to run 10 laps with so little fuel that they need to make a pitstop at lap 5, they drive carefully and lifting always when car gets light, all of cars had red clutch, also one did not finish the race as poor fella did got too much clutch heat.

But on tarmac, I would think that there is no problem that need immediate fixing, problems at gravel might prevent racing with AI if user likes to race 20 laps, also I doubt if I could drive so careful that I could manage that distance either and still call it racing.

Also here is one thing to consider, maybe XFG is not meant to last such punishment in first place?

I don't race on rally cross courses much, so I haven't tested other cars there, but this almost requires bit of that to see if that is XFG problem or general to cars used on rally cross course?

Scawen Please Please Please sort the clutch out for XFG at BL2
there is gunna be mayhem in the bl2 servers if you dont

Quote from JTbo :Car does have quite weak clutch, when car gets up into air, you need to back of from throttle as when car lands and you have huge amount of rpm it is either tires or clutch that are going to slip and as clutch can handle so little amount of torque it is clutch that will slip, solution is to lift a bit when you get airborne so that revs don't run higher than they would when tires are in full contact with ground.

I really do hate FWD and I can't drive it fast, but I'm sure you won't loose too much time doing that, also it is same for everyone

Clutch should handle 10-15% more torque perhaps or maybe fault is somewhere else?
Anyway I agree that there is some fault as it is mostly tires that should spin in such situation where you have lot of revs and car lands to ground.

lol, thanks for replay, no Offence , but you were driving round some 5 to six seconds of racing pace !

(best I’ve managed so far is 1:09.42, but once dinosaur and mosseman have worked there magic with the new setup, times will be in the 1:08’s)

But even running so slowly, your clutch was getting hot, so I agree, the clutch on the XFG needs to be looked at!

Thanks once again.......

Quote from ajp71 :You don't need to use the clutch in the FBM. In the XFG and XRG you must lift off the throttle on upshifts, and ideally blip the throttle on downshifts. If you're driving properly you shouldn't have issues with clutch heat.

great, then i look forward to a video of anyone who's managed to make the clutch last longer than 4 laps on the XFG @ BL2, because i'm dammed if i can

i even tried driving round in 4rd gear........clutch still over heated

obviously scawen doesn't drive xfg's very often

Oh dear

What a mess
The new physics in BL2 Rally are just awefull

It’s like driving a 10 year old arcade game now! WTF?

And ffs if you’re going to remove the digital Speedo, at least make the analogue one readable!

And as for the clutch, I’m no rocket scientist, but as 95% of the demo races are 5 lap races, it’s probably a good idea to fit the car with a clutch that can actually last 5 laps!

End of rant ..........

Quote from March Hare :You did what?

You bought the S2 but race only on Demo servers? And complain that people are "noobs" on the demo servers?

Oh man! This has got to be the best thread ever.

"and the award for "completly missing the point" , goes to........"

the purpose of this post is to point out how the attitudes\skill levels of (noobs) has completely changed for the worse in the last couple of years.

NOT to moan about the fact that they ARE noobs
to give you an example of 2 recent trends :_

1: a player comes into a server and renames himself as someone who is allready in server, then procedes to cause havoc.

2:a group of friends go into a server and vote to ban people with the intentions of completly banning the entire server.

one more point:- you seem to be under the impression that the demo is for "Noobs Only"- ooo how wrong you are my friend

Quote from WGooden :I was really surprised after trying the diff preload. It really helps the cars behave more like they should on and off the throttle... and I think alot of people are just overlooking it because they don't know what it does.

hmmz, i've just done 80 laps bl2 rally with xfg, trying different preload settings!

makes no difference what's so ever on xfg,got same lap times,as i do with locked diff,no matter what i set the preload to

Quote from al heeley :Joined since Jan 2006 and only 10 posts, your observations about n00bs are derogattory, ignorant and inaccurate. I don't agree with your comments; there are plenty of new racers out there trying hard to learn the ropes, and doing well. There are also the usual few (very small minority in reality) that give rise to your sort of sweeping statements that gives out a biased impression which is not helpful for anyone.

i think you've been driving in S2 to long,my friend!

if you wan't to see the real noobs, then go back to demo.

lets face it,if someone's gunna buy S2,then they are obviously willing to take the game seriously,so you can hardly tar a new S2 driver with the same brush as a demo noob!

AND BY THE WAY,IT'S NOT JUST ME SAYING THESE THINGS,EITHER!!

you speak to any of the good/serious drivers who race in demo and they'll tell you the same things!

And by the way, sinse when does WHEN i joined the forum or HOW MANY POSTS- i have previously made, qualify you to be so rude ,arrogant, conceited, and have an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of your OWN rectum?

This is, i believe, a discussion forum for people to voice their opinions?

If you don’t agree with them that’s fine!
But as a moderator, should you really be setting an example like you just did?

I THINK NOT!!

Quote from mrodgers :Wow, does no one ever think to help people out? ............................
Teach! Please! This is the future of LFS and these new people are our future competitors!

I Do, and allways have helped drivers i have seen putting the effort in to learn.
any one who know's me will tell you that!

there's nothing like the thrill when someone your helping's laptimes start comming down

Quote from DasBoeseC :What do you want to achieve by posting this?

The so called 'noobs' are the fresh blood that LFS urgently needs!

Take care of them instead of accusing them of being 'noobs'.....

How can you expect them to be anything else than 'noobs'?

.....well everybody is perfectly entitled to his own opinion.....you don't have to agree with me in any way

CU, Sebastian

PS: Wrecker ≠ Noob

the point i'm trying to make is that when i first started this game,i never saw "noobs" drive as bad as they do now!

Standards are slipping, and also i think the percentage of new drivers who are prepared to put the time and effort into becoming good drivers is very low imho.

2 years ago i would have said it was easy to watch new drivers and spot the ones with potential!

now,i find it hard to spot many, sadly
maybe it's just a reflection of todays youth! who knows?
