Wow, awesome! Thank you for sharing. I love to learn drifting. Where can I get some basic drift set up and learn the technique of drifting? I could drift on Richard Burns Rally but I just spin out in LFS with all the setups I d/l from here that I could find. Thanks!
Can I adjust the AI skill level?

Hi, Can I adjust the AI's skill level while I learn? I like to adjust them lower so that I can race side by side against them. Now they are all long gone after a lap! Thank you! mike

Sorry for my dumb question: how do I install these tracks? I dropped them in to lfs/data/layout and they did not show up when I choose track? Thank you!

Wow. That's absolutely awesome driving! Can I have your car setup so that I can learn from you? Thanks!

Quote from Jakg :being in australia may be the source of your lag

I'm actually in California, US. I just updated my profile.
Now that I refreshed the list again and the one on the top is 117ms. I already checked "ALL" to list all servers.

Thanks again. So if I understand correctly:
- I can't tell when a race is going to start with any LFS server? (with GPL, for ex, every race has a start time posted and I can find one that will start in 5 minutes versus 2 hours by looking at the list)
- I have 3 Mbps DSL line but there is only 1 that's less than 100ms.
- So a race starts only when everyone vote to start? If nobody votes then it will never start?
THanks again.

Ok, I just pulled up a list of servers from LFS->multiplayer. I was able to join 1 but I can't tell when the race is supposed to start? Also, it seems the only one that has a reasonable ping time (<100ms) in the single one at the top. Is that all I got or there is another way to get to other server list?
Thanks again.

Thank you all, I appreciate your inputs.
I do play online once in a while, with GPL and GTR. However, I found that most of the time, I'm always at the back of the pack no matter how much practice I did so I now played offline as I could adjust the AI to match my level.
I'm going to check out the online server with my demo LFS and see how it looks like before I buy the license. Thanks again.
Pre-purchase question...

Hi all,
Since I mostly race and play all my sims offline, I'm wondering if there is a plan to improve the AI in the very near future?
Thanks.

THank you for your comments. Yes, I tried both "unlock" and "lock" calibration and the same thing happened.
It's really weird that it happened only when playing LFS, not anything else (RBR, GPL, FS2004, GTR). The DFP is self calibrated everytime it's powered up so there is not much I can do as far as calibration.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks again.

The iVibe seat is really impressive. It has native support for GPL and you have a G-force feel when you accelerate, brake and turn (for ex, throw you to the left when making right turn and vice versa) and also feel every bumpy section.

Craig is eager to provide assistance to add native support to any sim and he said it'll be only a couple of hours of work for SIM developer.

I'm new to LFS, are the LFS developers reading these forums too?
Thanks.
Can we have support for iVibe vibration seat?

I have a vibration feedback seat (http://www.ivibe.com)
and according to the owner/designer Craig (mailto:[email protected]), adding native iVibe support to a sim is only about 2 hours of work. Are the developers of LFS interested in spending 2 hours to add this to LFS?

Craig is wiling to help and provide all the details to add iVibe support to LFS.

The iVibe seat adds incredible immersion to a racing sim.
Thanks.

When you start drifting to a corner, again taking the Blackwood regular as an example, from the 1st straight to a 90 degree right hand turn, do you start to drift from outside or inside of the turn? What's the right position to start kicking the rear out?
Thanks again.
Losing throttle pedal with DFP?

Hi all,
I have a DFP with a set of ECCI pedals plugged in to it. Funny thing is that whenever I run LFS, my throttle pedal would go erratic after a few rounds on the track (when I stepped on the throttle pedal, the throttle either didn't move or jumped around. Checked using Dxtweak and I had to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in to reset. The same thing came back after a few rounds again). Do you guys have this problem with DFP? I also played RBR, GTR and FS2004 with the same pedals but I never had any problem with other sims, only with LFS. Does LFS do anything funny with the pedals? It's repeatable. I could run RBR forever and the pedals never stuck. As soon as I started LFS and drove a few rounds then the gas pedal stuck. It's getting very frustrated. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with LFS as this didn't happen with any other sims.
I would appreciate any comments.
Thank you.

- I have my DFP set at 450 degree (LFS also set at 450 with 36 degree lock). Is it good enough for drifting? What is yours set at?

- Thanks for the pointer to the drifting lesson server. I just d/l S2 demo a few days ago. Can I join a server with the demo version?

Thanks again.

HI all,
I'm new to LFS (just d/l the S2 demo 2 days ago) and I love to be able to drift. How do I join your server to at least watch you guys and also get some help in the drifting technique?

I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Quote from RevMonkey :- assuming going blackwood forwards, i usually decelerate quite a bit if i'm trying to drift nice, ususally take it in 3rd gear.

:|

Yes, it was BlackWood forward. Then do you carry 3rd gear all the way thru then accelerate in 3rd gear for the next right hand corner again?
Thanks!

Thank you so much for your explanation. It's clearer now :-)

- On Blackwood track, there is a long straight coming to a 90 degree right hand turn. What gear do you use while drifting in this corner?

- you said to apply throttle "to increase angle". Then will "release throttle" also "decrease angle"? (as the rear tires will regain traction?)

THanks again.

HI all,
I have been reading posts here and still couldn't find out the answers to the following questions. I would appreciate any pointers:

- I was able to drift around a corner but most of the time I was out of control. When I was drifting sideways on a turn and found that I was going to drift out of the road and to the gravel, how do I stop the drifting so that I can stay on the road?

- Let's say you are flat out on top gear and coming up to a 90 degree rigth turn. When you start drifting, what gear will you be? And what gear are you going to keep during the whole drift?

- During drifting in the middle of a corner, how do you correct the direction of the drifting? Just use the steering? What's the effect of applying throttle versus releasing throttle during the drift?

- I saw some replays posted here that somebody can make the car sideway (almost 90 degree to the road) a long way before the turn. How do you do that?

- what's a common differential power/coast setup? 60/30? Is the "coast" side supposed to be less than the "power" side? Do you want lots of lock on the power side for drifting?

Thank you.
