You can get great sets in the 'car care' section on http://www.team-redline.co.uk/forum/ and good advice from any Redline member
on our servers. If you ask any of them, they are happy to watch you and tell you where you'r going wrong. Try demo first.
Happy racing.
Threadbump to get more voters as at this rate it looks unlikely that i would break even, yet alone make any money.
I'm not sure how many voters i need or how long to run the poll without giving it the odd nudge because i don't know what percentage of voters would actually buy a model. My guess would be less than half and i think thats optimistic too.
Yes, it wouldn't be possible to cast in 1 piece and it would be too fragile.
It's not difficult make those pieces seperately in a different material but it would add to manufacturing and pattern costs. However, if i where to sell 100+ of the standard model (somehow doubt it), i would consider it.
Thats the happy thread, if you want to have a moan, f*** off over to
some other thread and join the rest of the ungrateful sods.
While im here: Thanks for a great sim for so little money.
Its a gift people, treat it as such.
I have been following this thread : http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=72811 and i thought it would be helpful to determine
what the most popular model would be.
The options in the poll are the simplest cars to make (no seperate or fragile parts) to begin with.
The scale would be around 200mm x 60mm x 80mm or thereabouts, depending on what wheels i can get from modelshops as these would be mounted seperatly.
The models would be rotocast and made in Jesmonite http://www.jesmonite.co.uk/, a arcryllic system with finishes available in plain white, bronze, brass, copper, stainless steel or even stone and made to order depending on finish.
(the metal finishes wouldn't need painting and contain 50% of metal filler and look just like the real thing)
The plain white models would cost £10 and the metal finishes £15 + postage.
Once i know what the most popular model would be i could post a pic of a cast in the various finishes.
This of course all depents on the LFS developers stance on copyright as i won't supply without permission.
Should any of the team read this and have concerns, send me a pm please, i would however seek permission directly before any sale.
Those costs mainly reflect the fact that they are all made individually by a 3d printer.
You only need one pattern to reproduce them at a fraction of the cost. Mould and pattern costs are spread over however many cast there will be. If there was a order for 100+ of each pattern i would expect the retail price to be no more than £20.
This system would be a cost effective way of creating the "patterns" but not for reproduction.
The cheapest and easiest would be solid casts in terms of producing production moulds.
I do this sort of thing for a living, (website under construction)
if there is interest in it i would be happy to do alot of the work at cost.
I know how you feel and i'm sure Jason does too. Dennis93, untill you yourself have tried to run a server and invested as much time and effort as Jason and OldBloke over the many years, i think it would be better not to comment.
Anyone into reviving the good old days?
I know that combo wore a bit thin in the end, but i had a go again after years
of abstinence and rediscovered its greatness.
If there is interest, we'll rock AS2 combo too.
No points, no requirements, no restrictions just pure racing on Redline Racing 5.
Hope to see some of the old boys there, you know who you are.
Well it got off to a flying start and then slowly fizzled out for some reason.
If you read back you will find we have done away with the points system
because we felt that people might be a bit fed up with restrictions, points and general nonsense.
Redline has always been a place for quality pick-up racing and here it is still, like the good old days.
To those of us who can't get on with the cars (they are not easy), stick with it, its very rewarding when it does finally come together.
Ask any member for advice, coaching or for sets and we are happy to oblidge.
Stop being bored waiting for new content and try something you haven't given enough time like driving this fine car.
Hope to see you on track soon.
Is there a chatlog for http://www.lfsworld.net/irc/ ?
Apparenlty there was a convo last night regarding the release of this long awaited patch with one of the developers.
He must have been either taking the piss or there is nothing to look forward to this christmas....more like next.
I see a shitstorm brewing.
That was when the FBM was first released and everyone wanted to drive it untill they realised it's a crap version of the FOX.
The same will happen if the Scirocco ever gets to see the light.
