Must be a card problem, what gfx card you got? Got the latest drivers etc?

You may find some typical performance stats for machine there, if you look at the max section.

Thanks, I'm going to take a look at this.

Quote from bal00 :Did you save your hotlap?
Either hit escape and click replay or press 2 and enter a file name.

So it doesn't automatically record? Bugger.

What about my second part of my post above?

Quote from bal00 :The one you posted is a single player race, not a hotlap.

Oh right. That was the only spr file available in the spr folder. Those are where the hotlaps are stored, right?

If I upload my hotlap does that mean my racer stats update with the my fastest time in the hotlap? Right now it says my fastest is 1.37, when I did 1.36 in my hotlap.

Quote from SparkyDave :Yes the files are renamed each time you do a hotlap so you dont need to delete anything, if your .spr has a single number in it (BL1_FOX_2) then it means you didnt complete a full lap or any valid laps . If you .spr has a time in it (BL1_FOX_1.02.03) then it should be valid to upload.

SD.

It doesn't have a number. Yet when I did the fastest lap it was valid, a few before weren't. Does that matter? I'll upload it now.
Hotlap uploading problem

When I try to upload a hotlap to LFS world it tells me it isn't actually a hotlap. Yet I did it in the hotlap mode. Is there a chance that I have to delete the spr file that's already there and re-do the hotlap, or does it automatically update it?

Either way, I don't know why it won't accept it. illepall

Quote from tinvek :this made me think (first time for everything)

there's been a lot of requests for rain in s3, for this to work and not just have the same effect as a bad tyre model with wonky graphics, there needs to be a proccess were a dry line is generated along with the tempory drylines when following in the wheel tracks of the car infront

Indeed, that would be brilliant. Although I'd be sliding all over the place s till.

Quote from danowat :Yeah, its actually quite funny when you are side-by-side and you both turn to look at each other, makes me laugh anyway LOL..............

Dan,

I can imagine. Shows just how real the developers want to make this game. Good on them.

Quote from Chris_Kerry :Doesn't a drivers head already turn anyway? I'm positive in the single seaters this happens.

Oh, right. In that case, disregard this. I've never seen a driver's head turn.

Something that would be pretty realistic when turning your head left or right to see how close another driver is to you, would be to see whether he's actually looking at you too. That way in that split second of looking at each other, you both know of each others presence. Not seeing your opponents head turn towards you would instantly mean he doesn't know you're there and should adjust yourself for this.

Obviously your opponent may have seen you coming in his mirror or even looked left/right below you did, but I thought it would add a bit more realism to the game.

Quote from Vain :The spectator-possibilities should definitely improve in LFS.
For example a spectator tool that buffers the last 6 seconds of the race and can thus switch to interesting events before they happen (well, actually they already happened, but the cam switches before they are displayed). This tool could also smooth out the "steps" with the buffered data for better viewing.
The gaming-community would appreciate this and it would help LFS to become more public.

In LFS there are better races than in reallife, so why not also get better spactator-tools than in real life?

Vain

This would be amazing to see.

Ok, I've installed my Thrustmaster Race Wheel and I started off worse than the keyboard. But now I'm picking it up again and getting persistent 1:37's. Hopefully soon that'll drop to 1:36. I've also (i think) optimised my setup.

Setups

Hi, after buying my license I want to get my laptime on the Blackwood circuit down to about 1:35. I don't want to move onto other tracks until I shave as much time as possible. At the moment, my best is 1:37. I'm curious how much the setup of the car affects the time. I've already reduced teh fuel to 8% or lower and I reduced the height at which my car sits.

Is there some sort of video/tutorial to go through the setup screen and explain how each setting affects performance?

Thank you for your time.

AndroidXP: Thank you for the extensive reply.
mrodgers: I first heard about LFS in S1 stages, but didn't think much of it. I came back and decided to try it out, a lot has changed.

Thanks for everyone welcoming me. I've already made use of the high res textures and unofficial mods!
Just bought LFS.

Ok, so I just bought an LFS license and plan to start racing soon. I much congratulate the developers on creating such a fantastically entertaining (demo) game. I love the realistic feel and there's a great sense of excitement when you finally get the hang of your car and truely start racing to overtake cars!

I have two questions:
  1. How often does LFS see a patch update?
  2. Do only S1, S2, S3, etc updates receive new content and features? Or are they classed as major version upgrades?
Thanks. Hope to see you on the track.
