oh well, just opened today lfs.net only to discover a new update, S3 speaking and some content.. this is off topic but right today another old RTS i loved (Total Annihilation) has been released on steam, so..
Hell I just checked my account to see that I joined back in July 2003. Looking forward to see this phoenix rise again, as my good old Logitech Momo is still rocking enjoying, Dirt Rally
As already stated, i'd understand the realism improvement in removing digital speedos, but even at 1280x1024 i can hardly distinguish which is my real top speed and on FBM it is almost impossible to read speed.. For certain cars i'm forced to use virtual, at least i can see something better, but that's odd :/
Yes, FIA has pushed too much with judgements and now they are paying the price. About Dennis.. I guess McLaren is revolting inside his tomb, he was one of the most correct pilots and managers around, Dennis is damaging his name!
Next year the issues will be 2: McLaren consistency and Kimi. If Mclaren will force Alonso to retire as much as kimi got in these years, it will be difficult for him to go on. On the other side i guess Kimi will have problems with the team, Ferrari is a big family, and it seems to be completely different from this point of view compared to Schumi.. I guess he'll be fast, but hm, Schumacher was the one able to build a competitive Ferrari, Kimi has been unable to do this to Mclaren..
I guess many threads may pop up here on this argument, but i needed to say this:
THANKS MICHAEL!!
You've been the best F1 champion, you leave unluckily beaten, but you've demonstrated you still are the reference for every other pilot in race with you.
Now the question is.. how long will you stay away from racing cars?
I think we need all of those cars. What you pointed out (people don't use them) it's mostly due to balance issues i think. UFR is widely overrun by XFR, XRgt is beaten by XFgt, Rb4 is way too slow compared to FXO and XRT. RAC and Fz50 are quite tricky to use, F08 is a lot better with tyre patch, but many people like more BF1. I think that some of the problems would be solved when we will get more balance in cars' classes.
That could be an idea. I need to hear tyres sound to be aware if they are spinning or not.. otherwise all the rest just gives more "awareness" of what's around of you (followers, cars near you and such) but i guess that as someone else said your momo with better FF settings may allow you to get decent times. Anyway Bawbag's bar idea is a good one, +2 for me!
+1, tonight i could overtake the 1st position holder but i lost 3-4" for damage that i completely were unable to detect, so yes it could be a good option..
maybe an option that can be setted like tyres consumption or fuel, the more the percentage is high, the more damages (heavier ones) get repaired, so you can avoid "small" damages.
"AHEM" (lol, don't mind me, that thing is something i don't like that much so i forgot about it )
More seriously, I'd like to see more than just 1 car with such an engine (as well as with many other engines we still miss.. as Bob said we've got way too many 4cyls)
@Jamexing: yes, you started this trhead mainly for this, but remind that AWD's are not only TBO class. I'm sorrry if discussion diverted a bit about GTRs, i'd love to race with better TBO class as we already said without nerfing FXO. I anyway guess that in next patch we won't be having great changes in cars, we'll have to wait more updates (and more time i think )
Yep, (sorry Jamexing we're adding some GTR speaking here too), i do believe that current GTR aren't really "GTRs". They have a more comparable class in DTM racecars that, casually, use to have similar bhps but using way more handful V8's (that won't cause turbolags and such).
I Even think (apart certain examples given by many rallycars) that currently a 2000cc with 450hp is quite fragile and a little bit pushed to its limits.. 4I2000s with 450hp sounds more like an extremely tuned-up "normal" roadcar engine. I guess that in reality such an engine should be completely revisoned/remade at each race..
Back to TBO engines they appear to me more "realistic", but as we already stated, the problem may be solved once turbo model gets improved (substituting GTR with v8 engines sounds good, v8s on TBO class it's somewhat interesting but a little bit exaggerated ).
You're right. We are still missing inline 5 and 6, v6-10-12 (thankfully we've got 4c and 6c boxer engines that i LOVE ). I anyway think it's impossible that devs are not going to add many more cars in future release (S3 speaking, we miss real "GTR" classes, such as Maserati MC12, as well as LMP classes.. and that's just an example, there are still many things to fill )
Yes, you're right, maybe much parts of the problems are due to turbo model. I don't have much experience, but i've got a turbocar (Fiat croma 2000T 150hp with turbo @0.5bar) and it pushes far more harder than TBO class cars which have lot more bhps..
Certainly i don't want to see FXO or (I'm more concerned about GTRs too) FZR nerfed.. As I already said all cars should have equal (or at least near) potential, you may find one car expecially useful on certain tracks and slower on other ones, but you can't take 5 to 12 km/h of gap on the straight, you'll never keep up an FZR with an FXR with such differences.. I guess the suggestions already pointed out may help a lot in improving these cars to reach (or get nearer) to the FXO.
The point here is that devs think to mantain radical differences between cars in the same class (and it's quite obvious that 4WD is different from FWD and from RWD).. but my point here is that a player should be in condition to choose freely a car of the same class and have equal possibilities to lap/race/win/have fun with the car chosen. Actually when you enter a TBO server you get owned by FXOs as well as into a GTR server you get owned by FZRs.
If devs (which have MY ABSOLUTE RESPECT AND GRATITUDE -don't think i hate them or anything similar ) plan to keep current balance i would like more to have a each car classified apart from another one and not sum them up as they are now.. Anyway as someone else stated here, we're still on alpha stage, so things may change a lot in future..
I had few time to read the whole post, but if I'm not wrong, here nobody mentioned AUDI's domination in DTM some years ago.
I read much about 4wd cars and I agree in LFS there's a big lack of such kind of cars and they are way too underpowered/unbalanced as many stated here. 4x4 should be a lot more faster than they are now. Actually, only in few tracks it's possible to have a "little" comparison between RB4 and XRT (the FXO it's just another class of car, it's too fast).
There's some match between GTR cars too (take As2 with FXR and XRR, these cars get quite close in timing/racing) but here again the FZR has no comparison due to many factors.. I just hope to see in future more 4wd cars as well as to see them way faster than what they are now. It's just a matter of balance between the classes they race into, otherwise don't create a TBO class or a GTR class if there's so much prestational difference between FZR>XRR&FXR or FXO>XRT&RB4 (and we can easily say that 4wd cars are actually the slowest of the row..)..
I agree, the standings should count the 3 best pilots of the same nation.. I may also add that as many racers are from the same nation/team has got more possibilities to score more points (take my nation, we are 5-6 racers vs 17 of germany or 16 of England) rather than nations with less racers. With this i mean that when you've got many racers, it's easier for that nation to place the top 3 in the higher positions, while less racers have got much more less hope to get the same results, even if you consider only the top3 or top 5
I'll probably buy this wheel once it will come out (after trying it, of course, 300bucks are not few) but i don't really understand why leaving 4 buttons only on the wheel!! It's stupid! I guess logitech has decided to lower the button number to avoid problems with too many cables running inside the center of the wheel and to have simpler mass production.. but i still think it's just..illepall
I also hope that they've understood all the problems that affected Momo & DFP and erased them in this new wheel.. expecially the pedals pots' problem!
Anyway, i hope it will be possible to combo the momo wheel with the new pedals and shifter.. this way it could be possible to have the buttons on the wheel and the ones on the shifter too
At the moment we're running the italian league of LFS and i can say we've noticed tyers to last much longer than before.
The first race we'got (after the patch) has been on FeGold with Rac & Lx4. Before the patch after 30 laps my front tyers on the Rac were almost gone (wear was up to 90%).
After the patch (always 30 laps) they were 45-55% worn. Obviously this is the only experience i had after the patch, so your guess (the tyres lasts longer) for me works for race_normal tyres too.
