GáboR of S1dus wins the 310th RTFR in Kyoto Ring, using the McLarry beast!
Starting from the back, Gabor made it back to the front of the race lap after lap, overtaking Mantas in the closing stages. Mantas eventually made a mistake, allowing poleman S1dus Unite to jump back in P2. Rony for Race Green & Kuivonen for WCL completes the TOP 5.
This race was a 2nd in row in 2 ways - for the 2nd day in row Race Green Events hosted a race with classic racing cars from a specific era and also for the 2nd RTFR in row there was a race with a classic car on an appropriate racetrack. Yesterday it was a sports car class car on an endurance type racetrack - a 9.9 kilometer long fusion of both standard Kyoto road courses. The car itself was quite a challenge - pretty much a death trap consisting of steel tubes clothed in glass fibre, bringing together just over 600kg weight, while the big V8 engine delivered over 700 horsepower. The challenge was so big, some even opted to reduce engine power with restrictor for higher stability of their performance.
Just like last summer in the experimental RTFR-CCCC series, also this year the win with the McLarry was taken by Gábor, however the win this time did not come as "easy",even if the margin of victory was 14 seconds - he got in lead not only with his pace, but also due mistakes of competition, taking race lead only with 2 laps to go. With this the hungarian celebrated his 22nd RTFR race win, adding also the 17th fastest lap of the race and 47th top5 finish, tying Merenui for 5th most of those. Unite was the fastest in qualifying and scored his 10th pole position, however he did not led a single lap, being a chaser for whole race, eventually climbing up to 2nd position - that's his 72nd top5 finish. Mantas started from outside of front row, took the race lead on lap 4 spending a total of half of the race in the lead, but last 2 laps brought him loss of 2 positions and the lithuanian finished 3rd - that's his 8th top5 finish. 4th was the event organizer himself, scoring his 1st top5 finish since 236th RTFR back in 2020 september,85th top5 finish in total. Top5 was closed by P.Koivunen, who scored his 5th top5 finish.
Next week on the menu is another challenge - the midengined Raceabout is set to be run in the very fast configuration of Aston National, the race is 38 laps long and as always will require 10 seconds pitstop. 2 weeks later the RTFR will have the last "off-season" race, which will be run with one of the street legal cars,as always full info will be posted on the weekend before it.
