The 14th year of RTFR started with it's first ever race in the new, normally empty Layout Square. RGE however filled it with around 2000 mostly concrete objects to create a city street course inspired racetrack, where 2 whole kilometer long straights were connecting 2 different slow speed turns sections. Some complained about the track, some liked it and some were just happy not to race the 600 horsepower VERL car here like it was done 3 months ago, instead the much more simple 150 horsepower french car inspired hatchback was used. During the race there was an interesting trend - most of the drivers were motivated by direct competition on track and improved their qualifying PBs,some of them many times.
The race winner however was not able to improve his track record, but at least he matched it and what's more important - he led every single meter of the race to score his 20th RTFR race win with his 100th RTFR race finish, while from this race he also added 18th pole position,14th fastest lap of the race and 85th top5 finish to his stats. For Lorenzo this was the best RTFR ever - in qualifying he set the 2nd fastest time, improving his previous best by a single position, while the 2nd place finish in the race was improvement by 2,this was the italian's 3rd top5 finish. After a big struggle with competitor,Thehemuli was able to upgrade his 4th place in qualifying to 3rd in race results, scoring his 7th top5 finish overall and also 2nd in row. J.Pichard was the one who lost the struggle and had to settle for 4th position, which is his 16th top5 finish. Top5 was closed by 2nd RGA member in it - Falcon scored his 40th top5 finish.
The racing from RGE this week is not over yet - on sunday AWS will return to action with it's 2nd round of the season, where a wild 80ies car will be run in South City. More info and signups as always in AWS forum section. Next week there will be no RTFR of any kind, but we have something in our mind to fill the day with some action - stay tuned for info on the weekend! RTFR will resume in 2 weeks, when it's planned to start the 2024 Season 1 of standings based competition. Further details to be posted soon! The RTFR server however will be set up with combo for laptime testing for the upcoming RTFR XL - the standard LFS's BF1 will be run on a custom Aston configuration known under name Classic (A32),run in reversed direction.
