I have a problem with my PC and LFS. For the first hour or two after booting up my PC, while running LFS in full-screen mode, windows will kick me out of LFS and minimize it. This of course screws up my race. My solution is to run in windowed mode if I've just turned on my PC, but I'd rather now have the problem at all.

So this only happens maybe once every 20-40 minutes for the first hour or 2. So its not too often, but its pretty reliable this will happen a few times after rebooting the PC or turning it on. What I see is some sort of app starting in windows. There is a box for the app in the task bar, but it has no text and just the generic exe icon (white box with a blue border). This app box disappears from the task bar within a second or two after being kicked out of LFS. So I've never been able to get a screen capture of it, or look in task manager to find what it is. My guess would be its probably Trend Micro searching for updates... but I don't know for sure.

I'd say its my problem to deal with but LFS is the only game I have that minimizes when this apps starts up. GPL doesn't. GTR doesn't. UT2004 doesn't.

Anyone else have this problem?

had a look in MSConfig? i get this issue sometimes and thats why i dont run LFS full screen

I don't even know the program name because it loads and closes so quickly so I wouldn't know what service to look for in MSconfig.

Is there something like the windows event log that shows what programs were run and when? I don't see anything of the sort in windows manager. That would help me find the program's name.

I'm having that f* program starting up sometimes, too - very annoying!

But a fix isn't in sight... >.<

but i mean.. here, try this, stop every other background program that is running, just ctrl alt del and end it (that you can.. even under system) that wont restart your computer [like SVHost] then run LFS and see if it does it

if so, that narrows it down to something you usually have running is trying to gain attention

if not, then it is a service trying to gain attention and can figure out what it is in services.msc

i have similar problem, but is autodial thing... i disable but when i restart it back again... anyone know how to disable autodial forever, mp me..

question is OT, but there maybe some write protection on your config files.

I had the same problem, not with LFS but with other games.
The solution was to disable the program that enabled certain keyboard functions for me (like volume up and displaying a volume bar on-screen).
Disabling that stopped games from goig back to the desktop.
