S2 licenses

Sure it would, it would be easy to pool some money in a paypal account and do it that way.

Dan,
That's the plan Albieg is saying should be put together..
I wouldn't use Paypal though. Too much bad feedback, sorry.
I'm going out now, ciao.
would any body do that for me, i would be really grateful, i would pay back some/all if you wanted, just over a period of time
Kirmy, take it easy and it'll probably happen.. patience
Everyone send me £1 and I'll buy Kirmy a license (I wont really, I'll bugger off to Spain for a week) LOL

Dan,
I'm okay with that, Breizh, and that thing could already be done, as you correctly point out, but I think personal initiative could be less efficient than a concerted effort. Having a common fund where to put the money would be much better than buying vouchers directly since its usage would be independent from a single donor's will or from a single user's need, or merit.
You ask how to pay it back (I'm ignoring the other comments in this thread as they don't help me help you)?

I don't mind how you would pay it back. Cash in the post. Postal Orders delivered by pigeon. Coins via a duck. I don't mind.

All we would need to do it work out a repayment schedule. Obviously it wouldn't be a legally binding thing, so if you defaulted on the payments I would just be out of pocket and a bit annoyed. Hopefully you wouldn't do this by arranging a sensible payment schedule.

So, could we say 5 pounds a month, cash in post? Or is that too much/too little?

Another thought - can you part exchange some old Playstation games in your local games shop? You might get cash, but more likely you'd get vouchers. I would be quite happy to exchange it for vouchers, as long as it's a common shop, like Game or PC World.

You tell me what you can do (via PM if you don't want everyone to know), and I'm sure we can work something out. But you've got to tell me what you can afford to repay, when and how.

Edit: It turns out some of the above posts do help - this splitting a licence idea mmight just work. But either way we need to know a bit more from you.
i could afford £1 a week probably
And they say this forums goin down the crapper... Well look at that, if that aint a nice community endin for ya i dont know what is

I think the point is that you've sort of `just` turned up here. As has been said you have to see it from everyone elses point of view that you could just be pulling a quick one. These sort of things just fail because it doesn't take long for someone to take advantage.

You could easily open your own bank account. I've had one since I was 11 and I have a debit card for that account. So I can only buy stuff if I have the money in the account.

My suggestion would be that the person who gets a license from the `donation` fund should repay it over time into that paypal account so that someone else can get the same benefit as they did.

Well lambzin, handing out a nice answer (when possible) doesn't mean we don't understand what we're doing, or the possible issues we're facing. So, just as you say, we'll do as we like since we're not talking about your money.

This thread really irks me, don't you think this guy is pushing his luck and your kindness a little too far? How can anyone trust a guy that can barely write in his own language as even apt to race decently or willing to learn the game, without even going into the fact that he must have some way to get enough money to buy a license. To me this reeks of bullsh*t. I may be wrong, but that's how I see it. As someone previously said, buying this guy a license would be unfair to the other people who probably really can't pay and would take much more out of it. If you want to do someone a favor, buy me a license: my next year is going to be a borefest - I may not be the fastest, but I'm clean, I know how to use my mirrors and when not to attack blindly (not very common amongst demo drivers) and I really like the game, actually, the only reason I haven't bought it already is that I don't have a credit card at all (or access to one either) and so far I couldn't be arsed to check out other payment methods at least I'm honest.

Anyway, do as you like, I think he's just here to snatch a free license

Tristan has bought licenses for many other racers and doesn't seem to have been burnt so far - if he had been, I'm sure he wouldn't be so open to the idea of doing it again. What's more, Tristan is a very well known and liked racer, if someone screwed him over, their reputation would go down big time.

Kirmy, can I make another suggestion to what Tristan has done - try earning some money another way. I remember myself when I was 15 or 16 just knocking on peoples doors (no - not running away ) and seeing if they wanted their car cleaning. Why not team up with a brother/sister/friend and increase your income by getting through twice as many cars? I bet if you did that for a few days you'd get £24 in no time.
Quote from kirmy :i could afford £1 a week probably

Just wait 24 weeks and you'll have it

Just go around every house with a car, ask if you can wash it. It may sound stupid, but you'll have the money to buy S2 in no time. Sell a few things that you don't really need. There are so many ways you can make money.
My car and bike need a damn good wash, I'll give you £10 for that for starters

Dan,

Yeah, but it'll cost him 30 quid to get to your house!! LOL
Quote from Mark. :Just wait 24 weeks and you'll have it

there may be a better way

What about, he's getting a S1/2 license after a couple of weeks,
and if he doesn't pay, his license will be destroyed...

(as in a sort of borrow-license (maybe some help of the devs would be handy then))

It's not that I don't trust this guy, but if he is a scammer that it wouldn't hurt the guy who trusted him (financially/physically)
Perhaps Victor can enlighten us as to the possibility of that? If S1 licences were usable on S2 servers (which they currently are not) then I would consider buying him an S1 licence (by Asking Victor really nicely) then upgrading him once he's paid a bit.

But we'll see. I've pretty much said I'll get him on tonight when I get home, so unless I am convinced that there is a better/safer way, perhaps sharing it (the cost) with someone else, then he might be getting lucky. As it were.

Or maybe I could be mean and heartless and ask him to stick around of a couple of months to get a bigger understanding of LFS - he's already asked if the licence I get him will work with patch U, the one with the Sauber.
Your idea of being mean and heartless is my idea of being fair, Tristan.
We could make him dance for pennies?? that could be fun

How about you keep the web password to his license until he's paid up and he just gets the game password?
I was planning a voucher, which he then uses with the 'kirmy' account. In which case I can't keep anything but the code.

What I could do would be to give him one letter of the code a week The last week or two he'd probably guess it though

We'll see. I'm now going to the pub tonight to meet some old friends from school/college, so I might not even have time to buy him a licence. But as it's a favour he can't really be annoyed with me.
