What is your question.................... Case is really all about preference, and you just need to find one that suits your hardware.

You might aswell go AM2, I don't think that theres much difference in the price. Just make sure that if you get DDR2-800 ram that it runs at 1.9v and not 2.1v. Most of the AM2 boards only support 1.9v.

The system I just built is pretty similar except for the motherboard and CPU. I went with the ASUS P5B Deluxe and Core 2 Duo E6400. Intel-based motherboards tend to be a bit more expensive, though. The good ones start at about $160. Mine was $250.

Note that prices on that CPU are now cheaper. The case can also be found for less without a PSU, but I wanted the backup PSU. I re-used my old 250GB PATA drive rather than buy a new SATA one.

i recommend going for the A8N-SLi Premium, as the only difference is that the Premium has a heatpipe instead of a rather noisy chipset fan, the difference isn't usually that much, and the Asus heatpipe is actually quite good, although you seem to have forgotten cooling in that equation, and i'm not sure why you went SLi if you have no intentions of getting two cards

Mouse - Logitech MX1000 or G7

Keyboard - Optimus Prime ( ), but you need to decide on wired or wireless

Lastly, ever built a pc before?

I've got the heatpipe on my M2N-SLI Deluxe and it seems to work very well. It looks kind of funky as well, which is always nice.

G15 -keyboard btw, as much as i would advocate building it yourself, with such high end components, it would be advisable to have some one (a friend perhaps) to oversee you who has done it before

I would really suggest that you get a bigger harddisk than the 160gb in your first post. I bought a new comp about a year ago with a 160gb disk thinking that it will be enough. Well, I just bought a second disk (320gb) just because the 160gb wasn't enough after all.

And harddisks aren't really that expensive, just few ten bucks more and you have doubled you disk space

OMG! You really should do some more research on what the actual components basically do. You should become familiar with manufactureres, and their products. I have never built a computer before, but I have been making spreadsheets of computers for the past few years. I have replaced a video card, ram, and my new power supply is coming. Hmm. To build a computer you really don't need to know what certain pin in a conductor does. Also the fourth could be more helpful if you asked: "How can I protect my computer from static electricity when I am assembling it".

If he really has some interest to get into the stuff, he could just go and read a faq about computer, faq about assembling a computer, a cpu comparison article, a motherboard comparison article, a gpu comparison article, a case comparison article and a harddisk comparison article. After reading those everyone can make their minds up of what they want And so...

After all, when buying a computer, you can pay some little extra and they assemble the computer for you. But choosing the right internals isn't really that tough

What if you have a 12v fan, and you want to make it quieter, then you could simply rewire it off of the 5v.

In that case, yes. But the point was that to get the job done, you should not rewire, unless you're 100% sure that you know what you're doing

EDIT: if the fan starts up rotating with 5volts. You can make it 7 volts with right connections, iirc
