LFS Freeze then unfreeze
Ive searched for this but not found a thread on whats happening.
PC Spec:
3ghz processor
512mb ram
128 mb nvidia gfx card
lfs s2 patch u20

When playing lfs, or wathcing a replay, the screen freezes and i get a small sound clip repeating over and over. FFB keeps pulling in direction it was at freeze. Then after about 10 seconds lfs unfreezes with me usually in the wall or in the case of replay halfway round the lap.
This happened after updating to patch R, but a delete and then downloading a full lfs again sorted it. Started happening on patch U, updated to patch U20 and still does it.
Ive not tried a deleted lfs and downloading a new one again as i guess as happened over different patches its not lfs.

Any suggestions?
How often does this happen ? everytime you play? after a set amount of time? once its happned does it repeat after a set lenth of time ?

Sounds to me like a heat prob or somthing running (with higher priority) in the background maybe?

SD.
It doesnt happen everytime i play and i cant see a pattern in it either. The other night i was practising a combo on SP for ~ 3 hours, then showing a replay to a mate it froze. Then again earlier it happened within about 5 minutes of playing.
It has happened more than once in a session of lfs but it seems rare that it does happen more than once.

I did think of heat problem but it seems odd to me that my computer is on most of the day through people using it and downloading yet the freezing problem occurs at odd times. Also I didnt suffer with this problem more severly over the summer when the weather was hot. And lastly checked and all fans are working fine

Something running with higher priority - never thought of that. I close all programs while running lfs, the only one i leave running sometimes is msn as I talk to friends about what server to join etc. I seriously doubt it being a virus or similar as regularly and recently virus/spyware/adware scanned and defrag HD. So if it is a process surely has to be some windows process?

Thanks for the advice so far.
Hi Greboth.

Do you still have this problem? Do you have an AMD processor by any chance?
I don't think he has an AMD processor because the only 3 GHz AMD processor is the Athlon 64 X2 6000, which came out this year. I bet he has a Pentium 4.

I have this happening sometimes when using shift+f4 to go from window/fullscreen mode. The LFS screen goes all black and the sound loops for about 5-10 seconds. Then everything is back to normal again.
