CSU1, your sysadmin must be pretty lax to let you visit this forum, so you could ask him about googlevideo?
Otherwise you could try keepvid.com + the video's url @ video.google.com , im not sure how your web browsing is restricted.

It's restricted because I came into work on a monday morning at about 8:30 sat down turned on my puter...and there he was standing behind me shouting "You download virus , you download virus, I block you"!
"Wtf" I said "What do you think I do! , come into work on a monday morning and have a cup of cofee and a virus for breakfast?" well since that day I can only go to certain ip's , the rest of the world is "blocked" He's an ****.

That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. 1 - that's what anti-virus software is for and 2 - the IT team should be there to help people use the technology not bann them from using it. lol

Quote from thisnameistaken :If I was an administrator responsible for a Windows network, I would ban all users from touching the computers at all.

And/or I would not allow any machine in the building to connect to the internet for any reason.

Why? surely parental control + content filters would be enough!
A bit OTT don't you think?

I agree - it is enough. So long as you have proper policies in place and all the appropruiate security settings. You know a virus designed to send back data through a specific port isn't an issue if you have the port closed off by a PIX. It's all about layers of pretection.

Quote from thisnameistaken :When my girlfriend started at Uni, her email was only available through an installation of Outlook Web Access, which in turn could of course only be accessed using Internet Explorer with ActiveX controls enabled. After spending a while trying to figure out the mail server addresses so she could pick up her email using a (non-Microsoft) regular mail client, I emailed their admin to ask him for the settings. He replied that they didn't allow anyone to connect to the mail server at all (for reasons he never explained).

When I replied that I didn't really want one of my computers using IE to connect to a buggy ActiveX-reliant web app to collect mail, he went off on a huge rant about how ignorant I was, and how a well set-up Windows network is perfectly safe, and how they'd never had a single security issue in the six years he'd been running the network. Two days later their entire network went down after the Klez worm got in there - via email.

I wonder who done that.....lmao ... nice one

Quote from thisnameistaken :Oh hell no, it wasn't me! Stroppy admin guy probably thought it was, but nah I'm not that stupid. He was though, apparently. Klez had been around in various forms for months, so I was surprised it took them out.

I never said it was you!!!
Sounds like the words of a guilty man to me

Even if it does work I dont care, I use it enough at home..hell I would get no work done if it was on probably, and you guys would never get to see my beautiful posts
Btw in layman's terms what is a proxy?
#15 - Jakg
its is like a portal to the internet, you access the net "through" it, and all the filter (/man watching your traffic) sees is connection to one website

Humm so would it make sense to lets say the LFS server is in Australia, would it be better to go through a proxy between the host and you?
